“WW1 Exhibition”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

During our visit to the Island we took a trip to the Manx museum, while the Manx history was interesting and some sections informative, we were a little disappointed with the WWI part of the exhibition, we were led to believe that it was going to be far more extensive than what it actually was.

“Great way to kill a couple of hours”
Reviewed May 14, 2014 via mobile

Getting to the museum is up a steep footpath but there is a bench halfway up for the unfit traveller! The museum is compact and totally dedicated to the Isle of Man. I found it fascinating that the Vikings had such a strong influence on its culture. During the prehistoric ages, the museum highlights what was found regionally and then stated what evidence there was or wasn't found on the island. To top it all there was a fab tea room at the end - I recommend the'Bonnag' - lovely heavy cake!

“A really good day out at the Manx Museum”
Reviewed May 10, 2014 via mobile

We visited the museum for assistance and information about family history. We ended up going back on three separate days and spending time at both the library and in the museum itself. The exhibition about the Great War which was on when we were there was extremely well done. The library facilities are excellent and the staff were very helpful and interested. We would certainly not have found out as much about my husbands family without their assistance. I would also like to mention the cafe which offers a good choice of options, we liked their food. The gift shop is also really nice and has some delightful items.

“so much to see”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

The staff here were so pleasant and helpful with a huge knowledge of the museum's exhibits. We didn't expect to spend as long as we did in there and we still didn't see everything. A real asset to The Isle of Man .
