“Good experience”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

I have eaten at McFarlanes a few times and have always had a great experience. It is not a big restaurant so the service is always quick. The food is well prepared and the fillet brilliant. Portion sizes are a little small given the price but what there is is quite scrumptious! Very important to make a booking and ask for a table away from the door as the opening and closing letting the usual bad weather in can be disturbing. I believe this restaurant is run by a husband and wife team who have got it spot-on. Well done. We will be back soon.

“Lovely meal front of house not up to scratch”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

Visited this restaurant at weekend with friends. This was the second time my husband & I had been. As it was previously meal was superb. We all thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it. My chocolate fondant desert was to die for and a work of art. Shame it was let down a little by front of house. Last time we visited different staff & very attentive. This time nobody offered us a drink while we perused menus we had to ask for this after about 10 minutes. After paying bill there was not a soul in sight to say thanks for coming & goodbye which is not really the type of service associated with this sort of restaurant. After all it is one of the more expensive in the Isle of Man & you do expect good service all round. It would appear that if you are a regular you get a more effusive welcome etc or goodbye as some people did shame same was not extended to us. Despite the wonderful meal it would colour my judgement somewhat before choosing to go there again.

“Probably one of the best on the Island”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

The food here is worthy. The owner/Chef tries hard to please, and can get special orders in if you ask. Goats cheese soufle amongst other starters are competent. We went a few weeks ago and lemon sole was very much on the scanty side. But the time before mum had the a "special" i.e Cornish Brill which was to die for. Decent portion and tasted like it had just come out of the sea. The sole I had lacked the same "freshly caught" taste, but was still very eatable and a proper portion too. Very nice of the chef to get it in for me unsolicted Deserts seem home made and look enticing. True, decor is more of a lunch place then dinner, and if one wants formality your probably better off at the Regency or Jar. Even so, for those looking for a more homily atmosphere this place has much to commend it.

“Wonderful lunch!”
Reviewed June 22, 2012

We went for the lunch. The food was not excellent, but very good. Could have had a bit more on the plate though. The staff superb and the atmosphere wonderful. Cannot wait to give it another try!
