Manx Electric Railway
Ranked #2 of 44 things to do in Douglas

We found the whole idea of traveling by electric tram, horse drawn tram very interesting, so unlike what we have in Cincinnati, Ohio. We are just now getting the plans for our first six mile long electric street car, don't hold your breath, not sure when it will be finished. Our economic situation could be an issue.

good day out. try the pub next to the laxey wheel for a nice meal. massive portion and very reasonable. fun day out.

Snaefell was nice also (30 min is plenty, but worth view). its worth the extra couple of pounds to go there too.

This train offers a very practical way to travel north up the coast from Douglas to Ramsey. There are 69 potential stops (tell the guard where you want, on boarding) - many offering enticing walks. The final destination is Ramsey, an interesting place with (in summer) an excellent park and boating lake at the north end of the front.

the view from the top is is worth it but if it's a bit cold wrap up well as it can get very very windy up there btu you can always get a bowl of soup from the restrurant at the top that alone is worth it . the train is basic but that makes it all the more fun
