A great swimming pool for serious swimming or messing about with the kids. Lots of facilities indoors and outdoors. Well run and well equiped

The swimming pool is the best bit, but it has a running track, playing field & all the facilities a modern sports centre should have.

Fantastic facility to be sporty.

Shame that the swimming pools were colder than the lovely warm showers on entry/exit.

The NSC is situated just on the edge of Douglas, with loads of car parking, open air and indoor sports facilities. We took our two boisterous kids swimming there over the Christmas holidays to burn off some energy. A family ticket is about £14, although there's a discount if you're an Island resident.
The staff on reception were extremely helpful and friendly. They can sell you goggles and floats too, not sure what else they sell but it's a nice touch.
The changing facilities are good - loads of cubicles including family cubicles, loads of lockers (50p coin to operate - but you do get it back, and the reception actually offered to change coins for 50p's before we went downstairs!).
There are several pools - a lane swimming pool for the more athletic, a shallow toddler/baby pool, and a 'fun' pool which features a sort of whirlpool effect at intervals, along with a set of rapids and a bridge. There are several flume rides which my daughter loved. There are three water spouts which you can play under. I wouldn't recommend letting little ones go under this as they're quite fierce, but fun for confident swimmers and older kids. There's also a bubble pool which overlooks the fun pool so you can relax and keep an eye on your little darlings.
My only gripe was that the water was pretty chilly, even in the bubble pool. The kids weren't in the least bothered as they were too busy jumping around and splashing each other, but I was disappointed as I'd really been looking forward to a jacuzzi style pool with lovely warm water. Still, it's a municipal pool, not a health spa!

All in all, it was a great value trip to fill a few hours. Highly recommended.
