Other reviews on this site - and an ongoing correspondence in the Isle of Man press (vide: The Isle of Man Examiner, July 20 - 24, 2010)) - show how poorly the island rates for decent restaurants even amongst its own residents. We found 'A Taste of India' on Trip Advisor and, as it was but a 5 minute walk from our hotel (The Sefton: a very decent place to stay - see review in Hotels) we gave it a whirl on a wet and windy July evening. We were not disappointed but wouldn't be as effusive as some reviewers on this site.
The service is OK but perfunctory and our waiter didn't have much of a clue as to what to recommend. Not that we needed his advice as we followed recent TA comments and went for the unusual. Very sensible advice! - Our choices of Tandooried Cod, Spicey Grilled Duck and Special Mix Biriani couldn't be faulted: terrific, unusual and real taste treats, especially the duck.
The restaurant lacks charm, style and a decent ambience but I'm sure that with 40+ TT / MGP biker enthusiasts it would be curried heaven on earth and I'd be at the front of the queue to join them.
