This is for enthusiasts for old railways. There's a station at Santon, but the thing to do is to go into Douglas and get the little train (3' gauge) all the way to Port Erin. This is the one surviving leg of the three (appropriately!) that used to comprise the IoM's steam railway system. The trains are ancient but clean, and if you get an Explorer ticket at the Sea Terminal in Douglas it entitles you to unrestricted travel on all the island's transport systems.

Marvellous trip to Port Erin from Douglas - an enthusiast's dream. At Port Erin there is a small but very interesting Rail Museum

The inspiration for Thomas the tank engine steam trains, a really enjoyable journey from Douglas to Port Erin gives you a great view of the south of the island.

Great little steam railway which brought back memories of bygone days. Travelled to Port Erin and visited the excellent railway museum next to the station, very good value at a pound. Nice shop inside as well with very good value products. On the way back got off at Castletown and visited the Nautical Museum and Castle before a bite to eat and a couple of beers in the excellent "Sidings" pub (Next to station), it serves some great real ales & food is good too. Plenty to do on this trip and worth spending the whole day meandering and reminiscing.
