“Lovely Steam journey”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

The stream journey, although not as scenic as the MER, is worth the journey. You step back in time as you purchase your ticket from the ticket hall and step on to the platform.

The trains are traditional steam locomotives, with traditional carriages which are individual compartments. Tip: Make sure you use the toilet if you are going all the way to Port Erin (or vice versa) as there are no toilets on the train.

You can take the journey as part of a pub crawl and stop off at public houses along the way. I did the whole journey without getting off until Port Erin.

The journey was pleasant and a throwback to a more romantic age of public transport. Well worth a trip.

“Ok fo the novelty factor.”
Reviewed May 8, 2012

The service is less frequent, slower and more expensive than the buses that service all destinations that the railway does. However, for the novelty factor I would say do it.

“Worth a trip”

Fantastic experience, a trip back in time. Stations and ticket offices were like being in a living museum.

“Super”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

Trip down memory lane. Staff all very good and pleasant. Would recommend the three day passs which gives unlimited use of trains, trams and buses. Our car never left the hotel car park.

“Steam in Man”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

A beautifully restored railway travelling through the southern Manx countryside. If you like good scenery, steam trains, and real ale pubs aplenty, then this is the steam train for you
