“Over rated, under seasoned.”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

I went here for lunch after hearing 'its the best place on the island', sadly its not.

the soup I had for a starter, bit too lumpy for my liking, and it was predominantly curried rather than 'spiced' as the menu stated but overall pretty bland.

The main course was fish pie, watery mash no seasoning, more a fish stew i'd say.

After the first 2 courses couldn't be bothered being disappointed again with a dessert, so having been I probably wouldn't go again,

“I'm not particularly a fish lover, but ....”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Really enjoyed my evening in Tanroagan - delicious crab toasties to start, pan fried hake that really satisfied my taste buds for a main course, and a light cheesecake to finish. The restaurant was full, and we were a large group, yet service was excellent and food was delivered all at the same time. This was a first time in Tanroagan and won't be the last.

“A really first class meal - well done”
Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

Tanroagan is really great. It has a lovely informal and slightly nautical atmosphere, is in a nice spot just next to the main quay in Douglas and lots of simple but imaginative cooking. We had a delicious bottle of Montrachet and the seasonal greens included samphire giving the whole meal an atmospheric tang of the sea. We will definitely be back - well done!!!

“The best fish restaurant ever”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

This was our first visit to Tanroagan and it will not be the last, in fact we cannot wait to go back. The food was perfection from starter to dessert.
The waitresses were very friendly and attentive even thought the restaurant was almost full and they were very busy.
We liked the idea that the two chefs were busily cooking away in full view of the diners and although very busy and under pressure looked very proffessional and produced amazing meals.
Tanroagan is only small, but we loved the intimacy and cosy relaxed athmosphere. if you go to the Isle of Man, Tanroagan is an absolute must.
