Walked from Ventnor. Beautiful bay and lovely walk. Sadly, on glorious sunny September Wednesday, everything shut (except deckchair hire). Cafe closed on Wednesdays.

I was advised to visit Steephill Cove while on the island and it didn't disappoint. It's a bit of a hike to get there but when you do, the views/beach/cafes are well worth it. Don't go on a Wednesday if you want refreshment as the cafe and restaurant are closed. We enjoyed coffee in the Beach Shack cafe which was nice. Lots of photo opportunities. So peaceful to sit and ponder. Loved it.

Superb cove where we swam in the glorious sea and followed this up with crab sandwiches at the crab shack. You may have to wait ages for the sandwich as they seem to make them in slow motion (I waited for 30 mins ) but once you eat that fresh crab all is forgiven . I wish I could get a good coffee here. The main cafe does that lavaza machine stuff which tastes like it’s been brewed in a rusty pipe and just reminds one of being back in the office. If you like your coffee best trudge back to Ventnor

We walked the cliff tops to the bay on a dry but cool and windy day. Everything was shut (Wednesday). It was great to see the pounding waves but we were hoping for a drink before we made our way back to Ventnor.
