We booked to stay here because of the high reviews it had on trip adviser and were not disappointed in the slightest. A beautiful hotel that is well kept and of a high standard of cleanliness and decor. We were made to feel very welcome by Dave on arrival and from then on all staff we came across were polite friendly and happy to help. Our room was on the top floor (room 15), and was amazing from arrival. The sea views are amaxing and never failed to keep me looking out to sea. The room was clean and decor very smart with small touches such as towels, toiletries and a hostess tray for hot drinks. The pool looked very inviting though we never got round to using it. By far the best thing about our stay was the breakfast in the mornings. So much choice and all home cooked an fresh on the day from breads and jams, fruit salads and cereals and then choice of hot from the menu too. All in all an amazing hotel..... very happy we found it and cant wait to return again soon.

Just stayed on the Isle of Wight for a couple of nights in this hotel. Nice location. Immaculately clean hotel with very welcoming and informative host.
Extensive choice of cereals and fresh fruit for breakfast followed by the "full English".
The hotel has quality fixtures and fittings and is beautifully cared for.
My only minor downside was that our room was on the third floor, no lift, and my knees took a bit of a hammering on the way up,, but it was worth the climb.
Excellent facilities (even with swimming pool) and superbly placed for both the beach and touring.
A great find to which I will definitely return.

Room Tip: If possible request a room with balcony.

We were at The Havelock during the Easter weekend (29/03/13 - 01/04/13). We had a double room with sea views which was quite spacious, comfortable and superbly clean. We also had a balcony which we couldn't enjoy much thanks to the extended winter this year.
We were welcomed by Dave, who is an absolute delight to talk to. He was very helpful in giving us precise directions to places, nearby restaurants etc. We were very happy with the service at breakfast which included excellent coffee, soft warm croissants, fresh fruit, bread and cooked breakfast with the usual sausage, eggs and mushrooms. There is also a rack full of lovely homemade jams as you enter the breakfast room, which sadly, are not for sale. There is bar service in the evenings with a decent selection of drinks and a few games and books.
In terms of location, The Havelock is literally 2 mins from the beach and about 5-10 mins from some the best restaurants in Shanklin. It is also only a short walk away from the bus stops, pharmacy and the shops.
All in all, we are very glad we stayed at The Havelock and will undoubtedly stay there again when we're in Shanklin.

We found the Havelock on a web site. It turned out to be at least as good as we'd hoped - and, indeed, even better. The welcome from the owner was friendly, the room was spotlessly clean, the breakfast (and breakfast room) first rate with genuinely attentive service and the hotel was well placed both for the sea and for the High Street and restaurants. For no more than the price of a B&B this was a great find. Recommended.

Room Tip: Pay a few pounds more and get a room on the front of the building with a view across the road toward...

This hotel was very welcoming. It was clean/fresh/bright. I was pleased with our No 3 room even though it was at the back of the hotel. The bed was super comfy with lovely quality bed linen. The hotel is in an excellent location with the beach at the front and old shanklin at the back. Breakfast was served at 0830 which was a little late for us but we used the time to walk along the cliffs beforehand so it suited us fine. Breakfast was very well presented and consistent. There was lovely fresh fruit, a large selection of cereals and jams. Hot coissants. Toast and then a choice of lovely english breakfast/poach eggs on toast or my choice the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. We were never hurried and could help yourself to as much from the table as you wished. I only have one small negative to make.... There was 2 large chests and 2 bedside tables in our room totalling 10 draws. I would have preferred using the space for 2 chairs instead of the one supplied as i dont like sitting on the bed in the day if we went back to our room. Just a note for the Havelock....when you buy new kettles for the room, buy smaller ones to match the mugs supplied...it will save you a fortune on your electric bill over the season !!!! Look forward to returning .

We spent 2 nights at The Havelock last weekend. Our double room with sea views was very comfortable and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was delightful with hot croissant, bowls of fresh fruit, homemade bread, jams and a very tasty cooked breakfast. The location is ideal for enjoying coastal walks. We are already hoping to book a return stay later in the year.

Room Tip: Room 22 has lovely sea views

Spent 3 nights at The Havelock last week. What a lovely friendly hotel. Modern decor and spotlessly clean. Comfortable lounge/bar area where you can relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The breakfast is superb and Ann's breakfast table has everything you could possibly want on it, including a freshly made loaf of bread every morning and homemade jams and marmalades. Nothing is too much trouble and spent each evening having a chat with Dave in the bar. Hope to return with friends in the near future. Would recommend this hotel.
