We had a wonderful stay at the Brunswick. We needed a hotel that was close to our wedding venue, this was just round the corner within walking distance. The staff we exceptionally friendly and extremely helpful and accommodating. Our family room which had a separate room for the children, was sparkling clean, and Charlotte our chamber maid could not have done more for us to make our weekend so special. The hotel is perfectly situated on the cliff path and close tot en town for a wonderful holiday and we would have liked to stay longer, so we may just have to return!! Thank you all so much.

After much trawling of the internet we chose the Brunswick for a 3 night break. The friendly staff were really helpful in the booking process, upgraded our room gratis due to our recent wedding anniversary, booked our ferry crossings for us even advised us that we had a saved another £17 by taking a later ferry home (which they didn't have to do - we would never have known!) Don't think the hotel is dated as mentioned, it's simply in character. Clean throughout. The bar is huge and airy, the ideal place for a relaxing pre-dinner drink, it is also where you take coffee after. The wine list is interesting and not over priced (well perhaps the Rioja is at £22 a bottle) alas the only wines served by the glass are the awful 'single serving' in plastic bottles which could be any colour or grape variety as they are tasteless. PLEASE change to a couple of house red and wines from a real bottle! We stayed half board so evening meal was included and the menu is much more adventurous than others we had viewed elsewhere, no complaints, varied, served hot, invited rests between courses by friendly waiting staff and the butter for rolls and breakfast toast was not frozen solid (one of my pet hates) Breakfast was good and seemed freshly cooked. Our corner room had a dual aspect view of the sea, OK the carpet was a bit 'tired' the fixed shower had been removed at some stage and replaced by a hand held so if you're a shower fan ask when booking.....Or upgrade to a suite - the blue room has a bath and shower. Reception staff always happy to offer 'deals' just call for the best rates (their words). Indoor pool was very warm, spacious car park and hotel is ideally placed for the short stagger to Shanklin high street. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return so book with confidence!

Room Tip: Speak to the reception staff regarding room facilities, position and ongoing special offers.

We had a wonderful stay at the Brunswick, the location was excellent overlooking the sea with wonderful views. The staff were really helpful, and the children loved the indoor pool. The menu catered for a range of diet requirements, with a separate children's menu which was helpful for our fussy eaters.
Lovely family run hotel which will will visit again and thoroughly recommend.

Room Tip: We had a superior family room with fantastic sea views and lots of space.

We stayed Easter Weekend in a family room (2 adults & 2 kids) which is in an extension seperate from the main hotel, but but only a few seconds walk across the car park.
The room was excellent, very spacious and had an additional room for the kids to sleep in.

All of the staff were very helpful, friendly and made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived.

I can't rate this hotel enough. It's in a great position, clean, comfortable, has an indoor swimming pool (which was just as well as it was freezing outside), small sauna and an outdoor swimming pool as well as a games room for the kids to play in which is next to the relaxing bar where you can have a drink and unwind after an excellent dinner in the restaurant.

Just a couple of little niggles (but this could be due to the fact they had only just opened for the season) were running out of gravy at dinner on the Sunday, running out of apple juice at breakfast on the Monday and also on the Monday I had no hot water for my shower.
However, these are only minor and in no way spolit a very very enjoyable stay in a wonderful hotel.

We will be back!!!

We stayed in the attic room of the annex, very roomy would suit a family. All velux windows with great views at the back and your own little staircase down to your lounge again great views.
The hotel is comfortable and clean but is in need of a refurb, ( don't let that put you off as it is clean even though dated)
Breakfast was good and a good choice, we didn't book for evening meals but did eat in the hotel one evening it was ok but you do need to get in early. And with a good choice of places to eat in the village all within walking distance you are spoilt for choice.
Thai restaurant was good as was the the crab restaurant.

Stayed last couple of days August 2012. lovely pleasant friendly hotel, and peacefully quiet. Really nice staff, couldn't do enough for you. Stayed in the lodge, great big room and bathroom, absolutely spotless. Breakfast freshly cooked, good hearty food just what you need for the walk along the path down to the beach and back up again. Didn't try the evening meals but everyone seemed very pleased. Yes, bit dated but so so clean. Definitely return. Oh, and great pub on the beach few minutes down the steps, with excellent ales. Peace and quiet - luxury.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the lodge at front - it's reserved for me!!

We paid around £40 pppn and staying 3 nights at the end of August. We booked a couple of days before arrival and the hotel had no family rooms left but were accommodating in allocating us a twin and a double next to each other.

Both of our rooms had a cold damp feeling to them, even to the point that it was impossible to dry towels. We were located on the ground floor behind the reception, other rooms that were upstairs seemed much nicer. Both rooms also had a pile carpet which although very clean just grossed me out. One room had a shower which was hot and poweerful, the other room only had a bath so worth requesting a shower if you want one.

On the upside the rooms were extremely clean and had a small tv, hair dryer and tea/coffee.

The hotel also had a small indoor and outdoor pool and a pool table. The lounge area and bar seemed a little dated but all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble for them.

I noticed the hotel had five stars for food hygiene and the breakfast was brilliant. You had the same table each day which corresponded with your room number which I thought was very cute !

Location was excellent right on the seafront and you could walk into Shanklin.

We would stay again but ask for one of the rooms on the first floor!

Room Tip: Stay upstairs !
