We stayed for 4 nights and I have to say that it was, as always a great stay. This is our sixth time here and Bob and Anne are as welcoming as ever. The balcony room that we stayed in was excellent and we are looking forward to our next trip. They was also very welcoming to our 1 year old.

We stayed at the Carlton Hotel and enjoyed the beautiful view overlooking the beach. Anne and Bob made us feel very comfortable and extremely welcome. The Hotel was very clean and kept to a high standard. The beds we had were very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The Tea gardens, lawns and flower borders looked really pretty. We would not hesitate to recommend a holiday or short break at the Carlton Hotel. Thanks again to Anne and Bob and all the staff for looking after us so well. We are looking forward to coming back.

In assembling thoughts for my reviews, I try not to simply duplicate what other reviewers have written and which has turned out to be our experience also. Bob & Anne are excellent hosts and they thoroughly deserve the many plaudits they have received.

The hotel has limited parking in an area of dozens of hotels & guest houses. However we managed to get parked on every day of our stay even though the hotel appeared full.

Rooms 5 & 6 are very popular because of the uninterrupted superb sea view over a very pretty & dutifully maintained garden (see pics). By booking well in advance we got one of these for most of our stay. All the rooms are freshly decorated with tea/coffee making tray but no fridge or safe. The en-suite had a full size bath & adequate toiletries. There was a separate shower room & toilet across the landing.

Rooms have flat screen TV, dressing table, bedside cabinets plus wardrobe with plenty of hanging space. The hotel is scrupulously clean & has a pleasant airy lounge plus a large decking area with table & chairs.

During the day snacks, salads, baguettes etc are available until afternoon plus bottled beers & drinks through the day and into the evening. The Dining Room is light & roomy and serves breakfast from 8.30 until 9.00 am the menu being more than adequate with waitress service from pleasant ladies.

The Carlton has no facilities for evening meals but a 15 minute amble brings you into Old Shanklin with several pubs & restaurants. If you are not too concerned about table cloths & silver service try the Star Café/Bar/Restaurant.

This being our first visit to the Isle we found so much to do and our membership of National Trust & English Heritage meant we were spoilt for choice with so many lovely locations to see. We found the price very reasonable particularly since Anne arranged our ferry bookings at the resident’s rate & included this in our bill which we were quite happy to pay well in advance.

Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed at the Carlton Hotel for 5 nights. We each had a room and 1 was a single and mine was a double. It was a fabulous hotel to be in with a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Both rooms were clean, tidy, comfortable and very well presented. Anne and Bob went out of there way to make sure you had everything you needed and could want and went above and beyond to ensure this. The other guests were really friendly and we had many conversations with most of them. There was complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room which was filled up daily if it had been used. Also complimentary shampoo, conditioner, soap and even shower cap. The lunch menu has a wide selection and very reasonable prices. The breakfast was excellent and more than caters for any dietry need. The staff including the waitresses and cleaning team were lovely and friendly. I'm looking at going back next year in the summer with my husband and daughter and look forward to seeing Anne and Bob for a second time. The island is a beautiful place which caters for anything you fancy to do to fill your holiday time. I really recommend this hotel and this lovely island.

A lovely location with a warm welcome from Bob & Anne.
They were particularly helpful with finding the best golf courses for us to play and took time and trouble to book them for us.
There was always someone available to attend to us, you were made to feel that nothing was too much trouble.
The facilities were good , the breakfast excellent and the garden was beautiful.

The owners, Bob and Anne are excellent and really helped to make our stay so special and memorable. Cannot wait to return!

My family and I holiday on the Isle of Wight every year and were completely blown away this year when we arrived at the 'Carlton Hotel.' Such a beautiful hotel in an amazing location with a view to die for! The owners, Bob and Anne made us feel so welcome, it was like home from home. They couldn't do enough for us and the children to ensure our stay was unforgettable. Their daughter Leigh was very friendly and our children made good friends with their Grandchildren Lewis and Mia. We usually stay somewhere different each year we visit the Island, but not next year, we've already booked up for another week at the 'Carlton Hotel' and we're so looking forward to going back!
