We just got back from 6 nights at Ninham camping in pretty grotty weather, but had a fantastic time - the campsite is beautiful, with good sized pitches and pretty good facilities. We ended up right at the very corner and were a little far away from the toilet / shower block, but this was a minor inconvenience really. There's a lovely little fishing lake (caught an eel!), an outdoor heated pool and a games room (frankly a little depressing) but above all it's a great base for exploring the IoW. We stayed there as a party of 17 and had a superb time! Highly recommended!

Camped here for 2 nights and found a lovely clean well laid out campsite - with fabulous sized pitches. Toilet block - yes it was old but extremely clean and warm with free lovely hot showers - not one hair in the sinks!! There is also a new block under construction. 20 minute walk into Shanklin and Morrisions 5 mins in car just up the road. Lovely and peaceful lots of birds and rabbits around. Site sorted out the ferry booking as well and we couldnt fault it and would highly recommend.

We stayed at this camp site for a little under a week, at the beginning of September. We were attracted by the well presented website and the fact that on its website it had 5* reviews.
Starting with the positives, the website is extremely user friendly and there is a ferry booking service which is very convenient.
The pitch was very spacious and the fact that they have a hedge separating the pitch behind allows you to have some privacy. The setting is very idyllic, the lakes look very pretty and the rolling countryside surrounding the campsite is truly beautiful. The free wifi facility is good if you dont mind walking to get to it.
The negatives. The toilets/shower facilities are fairly basic and could benefit from a revamp for example the ceilings are incredibly mouldy also the toilet cubicles have no lighting. Both toilet blocks shut each day between 13.30 and 15.30 for routine cleaning, and at the time we stayed there was no alterative facilities as the sign stated to use, which is quite inconvenient especially if you have children or are in a tent!
The "laundry" room was quite disappointing. It was £4.50 for a wash dry with an additional charge for the washing detergent which wasn't great for the wash service. The room itself needed a major clean up as there was bird POO everywhere which had clearly been there for some time, due to a family of swallows nesting inside. This also meant we couldn't then hang our wet washing to dry through fear of it being bombed from above.
Overall we felt that all the facilities needed modernising. A lovely part of the UK though!
Thanks for your time and I hope you found this review helpful. Happy camping ;-)

On arrival we were offered our choice of pitches as there were very few people there. This was great as we wanted a quiet few days of reading, relaxing and using the pool. We went away for the afternoon and when we came back we found ourselves surrounded by a small classic car rally and behind us, tents full of families. The rally people had come for a social time and they tinkered with their cars, started and restarted the engines, shouted across pitches, etc. In most camps a rally, for these reasons, is put away from other campers. There was no reason for us to be pitched there as the field was only a quarter full and the field on the other side of the swimming pool had almost no one. We did manage to use the pool (lovely) but it didn't open until 9 am and closed at 6 so it was hard to find a time for a quiet, child-free swim. Also, we are frequent campers and this is the most we have ever paid on the Isle of Wight so we went away feeling rather dissatisfied with what could have been a lovely stay.

Thankyou for your review.

In regard to the 'Rally' we do not actually accept rallies on the site.
I think you are referring to a group of 3 families with Morris vehicles that were booked onsite as normal customers.
I do apologise for your experience with noise, but if this issue was raised at reception we would have of course dealt with this immediately.
The swimming pool is actually open 9am - 8pm ( open daily 11 hours in total)
I'm sorry that you were not able to swim without children in the pool, I would recommend staying outside the school holiday period in future.

Recently returned from spending 11 days at Ninham Farm.
Really lovely site - pitches are allocated and VERY spacious and well laid out so that even in peak season you don't get that experience of people pitching on top of you. Lots of mature trees and hedges to break up the site and add privacy. Pitches right at the top of the Willow Brook side of the campsite are especially good, backing on to open fields with fantastic views of the stars at night.

Amenities on the Willow Brook side are ample: two blocks, each with 4 showers for men and women, two washing up areas and lots of water points. Never had to queue for shower or washing up sink throughout our stay. Facilities are a little old but are kept very clean, and seem to be tended several times a day.

Very attractive site overall with fishing lakes, ducks and wooded areas. Swimming pool is a nice touch, as is the little kiosk selling ice creams and cups of tea.

Staff very knowledgeable and helpful, with plenty of maps and leaflets to help you plan your holiday. We cycled route 23 (Sunshine Trail) directly from the campsite - we can highly recommend it, especially if you do it clockwise (more downhill). Shanklin is a very short cycle ride away along bridleways. Morrisons is practically on your doorstep if you have a car.

All in all, very attractive, well-run site. Best we've been to in ages!

Just returned from a week at Ninham. First thing that struck us was the booking-in system. All arrivals were directed via a sign to an empty field at the entrance to the campsite. A further sign then directed you to walk through one of the camping fields to the reception block, only to be told to return to your car and bring it to the reception! The "welcome pack" consisted of two A4 double-sided sheets of paper, with a map of the site with your pitch highlighted, and a long list of rules. It would have been nice to have been given some info on things to do and the local area. The reception had some leaflets but these were not expansive. You were then led to your pitch by one of the staff on a moped. Once we were there though, the pitch was nice, flat and sheltered. It was big enough for an 8-man tent and an estate car. Good facilities on site, with the pool, games room and plenty of washing up spaces. However the toilet block, although very clean, was rather dated and only had 6 showers (3 men, 3 ladies) for our field, approx. 125 pitches. The campsite had some bridleways running through it but, because of the lack of info available, we had no idea where they went. We personally liked the site for the peace and quiet but feel it would benefit from an update.

The arrivals area serves as an arrivals area for all guests in the high season. Some days we have over 60 arrivals, 10+ of which may have arrived on the same ferry all with caravans in tow.

This also allows us to keep control of pitching & changeovers and also take clients one by one to their pitch. It is a short walk to reception.

We do not have a 'welcome pack' - we instead only give necessary information to clients for their immediate arrival, this includes a site map, pitching instructions and rules (rules only form part of one a4 sheet) We did give welcome packs but we have found most gets thrown in the bin and wasted - not very eco.

All other information is available either on request or readily & freely available at reception.

There are a total of 3 bridle paths and one footpath leading from site. The area surrounding us is and linked by these s huge so OS maps are the only option for more detailed information and are available to purchase in reception. A local map showing routes into Shanklin and the local area and Isle of Wight map are also available for free.

in regards to shower facilities, we are still wrangling with the planning department but new amenity building is planned for the start of the 2012 season.
