We loved staying here and were pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was. Very well fitted out with loads of kitchen accessories, welcome surprises in the kitchen cupboards, Netflix, great shower gels. The owner really has thought of everything and we felt very welcome. Beautiful and modern. The location was great too - the coastal path is a couple of minutes away and a nearby beach offers surfing and beach bbqs every Friday. We’re definitely coming back!
We absolutely loved our stay at Old School Mews. Its a really beautiful house in a beautiful part of the island. It had everything we needed & is perfect for both couples & families. We agree with all the comments above & will definitely be returning - we didn't want to leave!! Tip - head for the Beach Shack in Steephill Cove (near Ventnor)!
The house is beautifully finished with luxury furnishings, linens and towels. The whole family slept well in the very comfortable beds. The rooms are large and bright and are equipped with everything you could possibly need, especially the kitchen, nothing has been forgotten! It's the perfect space for entertaining whether cooking from scratch or enjoying a takeaway from one of the local ones, many that can be walked to. There is a lovely garden out the front and a large patio for al fresco dining.
The location is perfect for exploring the island. Shanklin beach is a short walk away as is the village.
There is a complete entertainment package in the main room as well as TVs in all bedrooms and a selection of games too. Plenty to keep all ages amused.
Can't wait to return and enjoy another relaxing break in this fabulous house which is perfect for families, couples or groups of friends.
Old School Mews is simply fantastic. The moment we arrived we immediately fell for the place. It oozes luxury in each of the spacious rooms, which were warm and family friendly at the same time. Careful design and architecture means that light bathes every room and all of the bedrooms are an excellent size - we had no qualms letting our 3 year old have first dibs as we knew we would end up with something lovely! The lounge has masses of space and is cleverly divided so kids can watch TV whilst the adults chat in a different section. Loads of board games, puzzles and DVDs for all ages - you won’t need to bring anything with you. The kitchen is the piece de resistance. High end equipment and everything you could possibly need whether you are a novice or pro chef. Lovely open plan dining room attached which opens on to a patio and great sized garden. Big enough for a kick about and safe for small children.
Location wise it is spot on. The cliff path is moments away, as are various cycle routes - red squirrel trail, round the island route etc. We only used the car twice as we could get most places on foot or by bike, though everywhere is easily accessible by road if you want to travel further afield. Recommendations (with our active 3 year old) are as follows:
Cycle/walk the cliff path to Sandown. Visit Dinosaur Isle and have lunch at The Bandstand.
Cycle the circular section of the Red Squirrel Trail, stopping in Godshill to visit the Model Village and have lunch at The Taverners.
Visit Bembridge Windmill and walk the Culver Trail, stopping at The Culver Haven Inn for refreshments (amazing Halloumi Salad!)
The Yarbridge Inn is also recommended, as is The Peddalers Cafe on the Red Squirrel Trail.
Last, but by no means least, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, is sundowners at The Hideaway. Superb views, lovely people and, rumour has it, that they do the occasional lock in
This is a beautiful property with all modern conveniences, tucked away in a tasteful development minutes from the beach and all the local amenities of Shanklin. The high spec finish of the property and the attention to detail immediately impresses and makes you feel like your holiday is off to a positive start. Even as a family of four the property feels vast, with large open rooms and an abundance of space. Three double bedrooms and 2-ensuites, including the family bathroom made showering post biking excursions a breeze. The kitchen is impressive for people interested in cooking, again complimented with a fast array of gadgets. The TVs in each bedroom, high speed WiFi and Netflix were an instant hit with the kids as was the large garden. Overall we could not have been happier with our choice of accommodation and I would without hesitation recommend the property to anyone. This property is top of my list for a return visit to the Isle of Wight.
We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful, modern house. The three double bedrooms, 2 with en-suites were spacious, light and airy with very comfortable beds.
The large living room leads into an amazing kitchen and dining room with everything you could possibly need.
Old School Mews is in a perfect location with the coastal path at the end of the road giving easy access to the scenic cliff top walk along to Shanklin and Sandown leading down to the wonderful sandy beaches. Perfect for an early morning run in the sun too!
Old School Mews is anything but 'Old School'! The property is ultra-modern, high tech and high spec. There is such a sense of space, from the moment you walk into the double height entrance hall, through to the lounge and kitchen/dinner which are huge. The three bedrooms upstairs follow suit, even the private garden is massive!
Being so close to the best beaches on the Isle just adds to Old School Mews appeal. We’ll be back!
