“Brilliant Service, friendly owners, great for families”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

We booked a last minute trip to the IOW, booked by phone and Lesley was VERY nice and helpful on Tues, and arrived Weds evening. The welcome was warm and friendly and the family room (no.2) was nice, plenty of space for travel cot along with all the other stuff we had. Room was nice and very clean. The matteress was probably a tad soft for my liking but thats a personal thing and I find this everywhere I stay. Shower lacked a little power (compared to one at home) but hot water and again was very clean. Overall though the room fitted the bill and was ideal.

The owners were ever so friendly and the kids took to them, it was genuine warmth too, not put on as you sometimes find. Breakfast was prompt and very nice, lovely bacon, and non of the issues the previous person listed - if you want more juice you only had to ask.

We had a 4yo and a 2yo and this hotel is perfect if you have young kids, not that there is loads to do there, but they are welcome in the bar area and is so close to the seafront, about 2/3 mins walk. If I had to be picky, the towels were are little thin (again, no different to many places I have stayed in). Over the years I have stayed in many hotels (small ones like this and larger chains) and have to say that aside from the expensive boutique style ones (costing 3 or 4 times as much) this was as good as it got!!!

So, if you want a nice clean hotel, in a nice area, with fantastic service and owners, book now!

What a dump. It had all the appearance of a run down old folks home. Mildew, mold and not a little dirt were the main occupants. The bathroom was so encrusted with black mold that you felt that you needed a shower after using the one in the room. The bedroom(no 25) had a black mold stain in one corner, the mattress was most uncomfortable, the pillows were hard and not at all pleasant smelling, the towels were small and threadbare and the floors etc. were inadequately cleaned. We were only too pleased not to have booked for an evening meal if the standard of the breakfast was anything to go by, undercooked or overcooked eggs and one day virtually raw bacon. The orange juice was served in the smallest glass ever and only reached just above halfway and the tea and coffeee were stewed and tasteless.

Room Tip: Dont take no 25

Our third visit to Bernie and Lesleys lovely hotel, once again they made our stay really enjoyable. Nothing is too much trouble, my wife has food allergys but they handled this with ease. They are both so helpful with anything we asked regarding isle of wight. Looking forward to our next visit.

My wife and I first stayed in this hotel six years ago and have not looked back in fact we have been returning time and time again. So much so my inlaws now use the hotel as well. The owners Bernie and Lesley make you feel welcome from the minute you arrive at the front door.
The rooms are always clean and very nicely decorated. The food is home cooked and very filling.
I would recommend the hotel when asked where to stay on the Isle Of wight.

Room Tip: Recommend you ask for a sea view

We had 3 nights at the Curraghmore hotel and were a group of 10 including 4 children. Bernie and Lesley could not have been more friendly and welcoming. They went out of their way to make our trip enjoyable. The meals were plentiful and tasty, and the choices at breakfast were very good. Our room had a lovely view over the sea with a very comfy bed.

Shame the weather wasn't the best, but we still found things to do nearby.

We found the hotel online while browsing for dog friendly hotels,we had taken Mother-in-law over to stay with her sister for a fortnight and stayed at the Braemare on our trip out and as we were staying for two nights on the return trip decided to stay somewhere with a seaview as Jubilee weekend.
We saw it first time on our trip over and there were two flights of very steep stairs to the front of it and was ready to cancel so rang Bernie and Lesley to find out if they had disabled access as I'm not very mobile and they said that at the back where the carpark is(beware down a dit-track and room for only 8 cars) it's only 7 steps in then if required a stair lift down another flight of stairs to reception our room and the dining room and bar.
We were in room 2 which was lovely with door that opened onto the top terrace above the garden with a bench outside that you could sit on and watch the sea, also good for dog to go out and tiddle etc. downside no heating in room untill 10:30pm then rad is so close to bed it cooks you and when your tired at 8pm from travelling around sightseeing all day and just want to chill during the evening in your room take some very warm clothes as you will chill.
Also very strict no smoking policy as sitting on doorstep to room smoking and got a knock on the door asking if we were smokimg in room which we wer'n't.
So to conclude lovely in summer, ideal for dogs, not at all suitable for smokers or disabled, hosts nice.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 and 3 have a terrace and good seaview
