Stayed here a couple of weeks ago with National Holidays - whom we could not fault - driver David was brilliant - a true gentleman and very knowledgeable.

The room was what you would expect basic but clean and the meals were lovely , good choice , something to suit everyone we thought - we found the service good too.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Would definitely book this hotel with National Holidays again.

Stayed at this hotel with my Grandson for 7 days and had a fabulous time. Hotel although in the process of being upgraded was spotless and the home cooked food was amazing. Had a room with a sea view and a balcony to sit out on. Staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. I would definately recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you and well done to all the staff at Shanklin.

Room Tip: Definatley book a sea view room

The hotel is in a lovely position on the sea front and in spite of what I am going to say here I would go back there but only with a sea view and balcony. The reception area is fine as is the dining room, we went during a heatwave and were seated next to the open door each meal time. The evening meal was a little strange 3 choices plus a salad option, day 1 curry day 2 chilli day 3 lasagne day 4 liver and bacon in a heatwave?? the bedroom 115 just passed as average, the window faced the oposite rooms toilet, no view just a blank wall, I asked to be moved but told there were no better rooms they could offer, the room needed money spending on it, the headboard had been removed for some reason and it had left a black outline were it once hung, the bathroom was outdated, we asked for a walk in shower and we did get one that also had a grab rail, very good. If the room had been better I would be giving this hotel a better review, as I have said I would go back but only if getting a sea facing balcony room, 7 days of watching guests going to the loo oposite was not good. (see picture of view from our window)

Room Tip: Sea view rooms

just got back from four days on coach trip, had nice room at front on the second floor the room was spotless but no mirror near a plug so you can do your hair or makeup or no hooks for anything. the décor in bar not very inviting and drinks very expensive. The breakfast was ok but the rest of the food was terrible had to eat out sometimes. its sad really because the hotel is in a prime place but needs someone to sort the problems out.

Room Tip: top floors at the front

This 3day break was enough. From start to finish this experience was awful. We arrived hoping to get a sea view room which we had booked no chance, on arrival was told these are not guaranteed just subject to availability. I did check before booking. Our first room given was what can only be described as cell like the only view was a generator which was powering the kitchen, we were informed that the noise will subside after 8.30pm. After complaining we were offered another room which was a view of a very dirty car park unkept and cliff face. No air conditioning and windows barely opening. The decor is a throw back from the 1970s as was the whole hotel, dirty unkept and not at all welcoming. The breakfast was terrible running in oil barely warm no fresh fruit, cereals all bran or Weetabix. We didn't stay for evening meal just as well Florida salad, cod in parsley sauce and rice pudding very inspiring I don't think. There are so many other places to stay honestly don't waste your money it is not cheap it is just very nasty. The only good thing about this place is location, it is on the beach from you just have to cross the road .

Room Tip: Probably the only good room would be looking out to the sea view but it's not guaranteed.

We had a week at Shanklin Beach Hotel during a heatwave so thoroughly enjoyed our balcony room with sea views. The bathroom was rather small with very little space between the loo and bath. The restaurant served an average breakfast and very limited menu in the evening (I have not been offered Florida Salad as a starter since the 1970's!)
However clean and pleasant enough and would use as a base again

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view balconies are best

Jacklyn118, thank you for your comments. The weather during your stay was exceptional and remains that way.

This has been a challenging year for us due to the severe damage to the building during the winter. However we strive to offer something for everyone and whilst our offer is not always everyone's "cup of tea" my team try and deliver it with the highest standards possible.

Again, thank you for your comments.

Great location- perfect for families. We had a lovely room on the first floor with a balcony and sea view. The en-suite shower room was very modern. Fabulous customer service from receptionist- Shelley, who really did go the extra mile, but all the staff were lovely. Breakfasts were excellent and evening meals quite acceptable. Evening entertainment not to our taste but other older people seemed to enjoy it.We found nothing at all to complain about.
