A truly amazing time. We had 4 adults and three kids on one tent and it was a fine fit. The tents and well put together and comfortable. The location is second to none. A perfect position to explore, laze on the beach, kick back with your book on the porch tent or travel further afield to some of the many attractions.

Days were spent keeping the stove going and cooking good basic meals on the fire-pit and wood stove. Evenings with a glass of wine, knackered kids in bed and good friends around a candle lit tent.

The atmosphere is relaxing yet induces you to do more than you perhaps would normally when on holiday. The honesty shop is great fun and useful for those things you forget (like flour when you promised people pancakes for breakfast!).

The memoires of seeing our 2.5yro running around first thing in the morning in jammies, dressing gown and wellies to go and let the chickens out will always make me smile. I can't recommend this place enough and will absolutely be back!

With fully flushing toilets out the back as well as gas fired proper shower - you really did want for nothing. One hint I will pass on is to take a flask with you and keep the flask full of hot water as there is no hot water to wash hands with in the toilet of after chicken feeding. We had a kettle always on the stove and kept the flask full.

Other tip I would give is to take a clothes horse / dryer. Essential for those towels from the shower and beach and also to dry off those swimming costumes,

One downside - plenty of wood is provided but it is very green and so does not burn very well and with little heat. We picked up some seasoned wood locally very cheaply and that was much better.

Thankyou so much for your review it was lovely having you all stay. I am so glad you all had such a wonderful time. Your suggestion was appreciated and as of next season all tents will be equip with clothes airers. I will also make sure there are no rogue boxes of green wood on site! I do apologise for the inconvenience .

We visited Lochhouses Farm, (Harvest Moon Holidays) for a wedding which was absolutely wonderful. We older folk actually stayed in a nearby hotel, but for the youngies with their children, the Safari Tents were perfect. They are enormous and have loos and showers, wood burning stoves and cool boxes and are set around a site which has open grassland and trees. Excellent for little ones. Just over the dunes is the most perfect beach which is actually where our friends got married and their wedding night was spent in one of the Safari Tents which was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Lochhouses Farm is a fabulous venue for a wedding but also a great place for a camping holiday, although camping sounds too ordinary for such a lovely place.

First time I have been woken up by a chicken jumping on my bed! Situated around a collection of animals and next to a beautiful beach and forestry , there is enough here to keep both adults and kids happy. This is living half way between a tent and a log cabin with enough luxury to keep non campers happy. I found time irrelevant and sunset and sunrise my new clock. Hope to return again.

We (2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 and 4) stayed here in August for a week as part of our summer holiday.

The tents are large and substantial with a hot shower and flushing toilet at the back. The kids loved the cupboard bed and the bunk bed (top bunk of course). The beds were warm and comfortable. The wood burner could be a bit of a pain at times as some of the wood was damp. We heeded previous reviews and came equipped with a gas stove and small kettle for making hot drinks in the morning.

The location was fantstic with the 7 tents around a large field where the kids could play etc. The almost deserted sandy beach was a 2 minutes walk away. The beach was sandy with a very gentle gradient making it safe for kids to paddle in.There were trails to go walking and biking from the campsite. There was plenty to do on site and in the local area - the kids went horse riding at the nearby stables and we spent a wet afternoon at the cinema in Leith. Once our kids had made friends they didn't want to leave the site.

It was a little pricey but the setup and location is hard to beat

Room Tip: Not much to choose between them

This is a fantastic holiday for everyone whether you have kids or not, it's a Fantastic place with a lovely warm welcome. We came as a family and had one of our best hols, so much so our children didn't see why they should leave and couldn't just live here. The tents are brilliant, done out very well and we really enjoyed the wood burning stove. It was lovely to have a proper toilet out back with a hot shower after fun days on the gorgeous beach that's right by the tents. It's such a lovely safe place for the kids to play nice and private. We enjoyed visiting the villages near by as the surrounding area is stunning as well. It really was a brilliant holiday and we really hope to go back next year

Getting there is easy and once on the farm itself it is well sign posted just be aware that the roads on the farm are used by tractors etc so can be a bit rough in spots still passable but....
At the site itself you park up and wheelbarrow your stuff to the tents, probably regretting taking too much. The things I would take are as a previous reviewer said a small camping stove to get a fast brew if you want one plus whatever type of handwash you use as you will end up handling animals.
Its not a problem if you forget anything really as there is an honesty shop on site (a boat!)and for a more planned shop Tesco on the outskirts of North Berwick, which is basically out the farm turn right at the main road and follow signs for N.B. about 10-15min.Be aware the post code provided in a previous review for supermarkets via your sat nav can also take you to a much smaller Co-op half a mile down the road.If you want "different" stuff there is info in the boat about local butchers in East Linton etc and there is plenty of artisan stuff in the centre of N.B as well, but parking there can be a bit of a swine.
On the site itself Petra or the girls (all really nice) will talk you through everything and suggest stuff. There is plenty to do on site as has been well covered by previous reviewers, off site there is a useful book in the tents with flyers for museums, parks, castles etc.
My kids had an absolute blast here and loved every bit and the adults had a rather a good time to.

We have just returned from our week glamping and what a wonderful week we had. The location is beautiful, the tents really well eqipped and comfortable. My children loved the animals and it was a fantastic experiance for them helping to look after them, they raced out of the tent every morning to look for the chicken and duck eggs! The beach is beautiful and we spent time on it every day. Petra was very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recomend this site for a relaxing family holiday.
