Great food, crowd and atmosphere with a pleasant staff. Best spot I visited in Northern Ireland.
Love the view and the selection of beers and ciders, strongbow on tap.

Holywood is lovely wee spot but The Dirty Duck is the best part about it. Always amazing food, never had a bad meal in it. Good menu. Nice views. Great atmosphere.

“Relaxed informal setting with excellent quisine”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

One of the joys of retirement is the opportunity to sample different lunchtime hostelries, other than those close to work. On this occasion, it was our monthly outing with "Great Uncle Noel". The first thing I will say is that drop off for Uncle and spouse was easy, the road being very quiet. Subsequent on street parking was also achieved with no problem within a few meters of the entrance. The pub has a large outdoor seating area, which is obviously weather dependant, with great views across Belfast lough. Internally, large picture windows at both ground and first floor also benefit from the views. General ambience is "warm but worn", and my only criticisms would be that the tables are rather small. Access to the first floor (for dining and rest rooms) is via a fairly steep stair which could be difficult for the ambulatory challenged. (I imagine they have a lift but I didn't check this out).
The menu was quite extensive and I was torn between a number of dishes, both for starters and main course.
I was the only one taking a starter and I chose soup of the day, which was a delightfully spicy Carrot, coconut and coriander.
For mains we had:

Roast salmon with new potatoes, mange tout, peas and green beans with poached egg and hollandaise. My wife thought that this was one of the best meals she had had in quite some time.

Prime fresh cod in beer batter with mushy peas homemade tartar sauce and served with chips. This was consumed with relish.

Homemade fishcakes topped with poached egg and in hollandaise sauce. A very tasty and surprisingly filling dish.

Service was prompt and friendly and the final bill very reasonable.

The Dirty Duck is worth travelling some distance to experience.
