Cheery Cottage is a large five bedroom, three bathroom house located outside Paignton in Devon. It is suitable for up to 10 and is both suitable for groups, families and as one bedroom and a wet room are on the ground floor it is suitable for wheelchair access or those unable to climb stairs. Although only a short distance from Paignton it is very quiet and secluded though access by car is down a very narrow steep lane so be prepared to get the car brushed on both sides by the hedgerows. There is parking for up to three cars for the cottage.
The location is great for exploring this part of Devon, we enjoyed particularly Compton Castle, the steam train from Paignton to Kingswear, Saltram House, Woodlands leisure park, Castle Drogo and Paignton Zoo.
The lounge, kitchen and dining area is all open plan and there is ample space. The TV, amplifier, DVD, surround sound and overhead projector were excellent, it is unusual to get such good facilities in a holiday home.
The kitchen was well equipped with a large fridge / freezer and dishwasher.
On arrival we Piers and Helen had provided scones, strawberries and clotted cream for us which was lovely.
The enclosed front garden was perfect for football with our grandson and he also enjoyed the shared outdoor pool.
We highly recommend this house.
Having stayed at one of the smaller cottages in May 2016 which impressed us we knew that the quality of the accommodation would be superb when we booked the larger house.
It worked very well for us as a large family group (8 adults, & 2 children).
One couple and child in a full sized cot used the large double room on the ground floor, whilst the upstairs rooms are split into two wings with a double, a twin, shower room & toilet for each wing.
Two of the couples were in the left wing, whilst we had the double and our daughter used the twin in the right wing.
Very good links to Torquay, Paignton, Brixham etc, and the Zoo being only a 20 minute walk away.
Brilliant location, only a few minutes from loads of things to do. Paignton Zoo, several beaches and the river dart are all mere minutes away. It's a lovely cottage with plenty of space for 6 adults and 4 children (6 weeks to 6 years!). The owners could not have been more helpful and welcoming, even providing extra support to the private chef we hired one evening for a birthday meal.
Great facilities and everything was clean, tidy and any little snags sorted immediately. Lovely holiday, would love to stay again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cherry cottage. The owners were able to provide so much to make our stay more comfortable. Our party consisted of 6xadults, 1xtoddler and 2xbabies and they were able to supply 2xtravel cots, 2xhigh chairs and a stair gate which saved us the hassle of taking it all with us. Our package said it included a luxury welcome pack, we didn't know what to expect with that but they gave us so much (prosecco, scones with cream/jam, bread, milk and more!). The house is beautifully presented and the grounds are well kept. There are several supermarkets nearby and there is a lot to do just a short drive from the house, the Zoo and steam train were particularly good fun, but with good weather we could have easily stayed at the house/pool. I definitely would (and have been) recommend this to anyone!
We stayed in cherry cottage as a party of 10. We were greeted with cream tea and very friendly hosts, any questions we had the hosts were more than happy to answer. We had a fabulous stay and we are all excited to book our next visit :)
We had a lovely family holiday at Cherry Cottage, very comfortable and well equipped for up to ten people. Nice outside area for eating and relaxing with safe garden for children. The owner Piers was very welcoming and helpful, and the downstairs bedroom and wet room make it ideal for a family member with mobility problems. Good outside pool if weather permits, we would definitely look forward to staying again.
