After a disastrous stay at a nearby hotel, we were shattered and stopped by for dinner, rather late and could not eat that night, but staff must have sensed we had not had a very pleasant experience. We ask if they had in rooms available, the night manager, Derrick and Janice were so very wonderful to sort us a room for 4 nights. We booked dinner the next night, and Carl( an absolute darling) greeted us like old friends, took us to a wonderful sea view table and even had a rainbow on the water, yes, it was amazing!! Dinner was a delight. the chefs got to know us and catered to our lil whims! We stayed in the tower room, lovely view, no bath in the room but a huge bath right across the hall. Kate, Derrick,Carl, David,,so many I can not name made us feel so welcomed. the place has so much history if you take time to look around. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!! Brilliant staff, brilliant hotel and food was outstanding!!

Room Tip: Sea View rooms with a balcony can not be beat!! The tower is quite unique!

We have been coming to this hotel foe the last 12 years it has always been first class from the reception staff, restaurant staff and house staff all are eager to please and very helpfull. the rooms are clean and spacious. the restaurant is excellent both for quality and service although recently the postions seen to be smaller. You must try the freshly caught Haddoc and poached eggs for breakfast not to be missed. the swimming pool & gym are very good.

We went in 2011 oh my god as we walk though the door we was made so welcome by the staff. The room was a good side and very clean. The food and the staff was so nice. It just had that lonely welcome feeling . We will be going for a week end again soon even the view out side is lonely .

We booked this as we had had 2 terrible nights in The Quayside Hotel, Brixham. The rooms were clean and the staff helpful and attentive. The rooms were clean but very outdated, and in great need to modernising. The shower was broken but I had a great soak in the bath. If you go out of season its overrun by the over 70's and feels a bit like an OAP's hotel. Breakfast was good. Location is great as its right on the seafront and has great views of the bay.

What an excellent hotel...I have been visiting Torbay and Paignton most of my life and whilst aware of this Hotel I have never had to occasion to stay. If you are fortunate enough to have a seaview room the views across Torbay from Brixham to Torquay are amazing including the sunrise! This has not lost any of the period charm from cheap additions and poor maintenance - the quality has the same consitency throughout the building with an atmosphere that takes you back to well run hotels of the 50'6 / 60's. My room in 'the tower' was a little 'quirky' in shape but this is not unusual for older buildings that have been updated, but it worked and worked well with stunning and unrestricted views and the sound of waves breaking gently if the window was left open - The bathroom was very clean with a good size shower.

Breakfast was very good, all hot and served quickly, again excellent vews across the bay, there are numerous snugs and places to sit around the place and the indoor pool and wet facilities first class - notably the Jacuzzi, This must be the largest I have seen to date, purpose built and finished in mosaic tiles, the water is deep warm and will comfortably take 20 people so no waiting around to use it!
The design and layout of the building has a number of corridors and stairs - not a problem in itself but if you have mobility problems make sure they know in advance in order to get the right room..they have all the usual facilities including parking for disabled guests.

Staff are in abundance are very triendly and attentive, not really sure whay some have reviewed it badly, I can only assume they were unlucky...I certainly would use it again. It is rated as 3 star, but have to say I thought overall it nudged more towards 4 star, certainly one of the better 3 star establishments. Dont be put off by my comments on the dated style...The finishings are all good quality throughout they have got it right and it really works!

Downside - only one, I agree with earlier observations regarding pricing per person - most hotels now price per room and at £124 (£62pppn) in September per night is a bit steep especially as there are tour visitors there who almost certainly will not be paying this price!

Our second visit to the Redcliffe lived up to expectations, the location is brilliant and if it was any further to the sea it would be a problem, last year our room was overlooking the car park, however this year we were above the ballroom and overlooking the sea (a lovely way to wake up in the morning) but a bit noisy if there is a wedding reception on but did not present us with a problem. The food and service in the restaurant are great and in Trevor they have a superstar. The rooms are clean and everything works as it should. For a three star hotel I think the Redcliffe would take a lot of beating, we have stayed in four star hotels on the same coastline and apart from being a lot more expensive it does not compare. Will we be staying there again in future (yes please).

Just stayed for 2 nights at short notice this week (September). Why are prices per person and not per room? 124 for each night which seemed rather high for the thinnest of towels in the good sized bathroom (though the amazing soap/shower gel/shampoo/conditioner/how many other functions?? gadget was empty). Someone had left the upper window open with no means of accessing it to close so woke up a few times in the night freezing! I´m agile but couldn´t reach it from the window ledge. Clean though smelly pillows after a hard summer probably and sad decor with huge water stains here and there inexplicably. Brekky served to you rather than buffet which was good and quite yummy. Fab views from the dining room over the sea. Free and ample parking. Still don´t feel it merited a whacking 248 pounds for a 2 night stay mid September though .........

Room Tip: Check you can access any windows left open!
