“Exceptional service”

We had a one night stay which was originally an x-mas party with a night's stay and breakfast ...... unfortunately the party was cancelled due to lack of numbers but we decided too keep the booking and have the normal table d'hote evening meal plus B&B. We were not disappointed .... food, room, service were all excellent, we were lucky enough to get a sea view which was wonderful. This hotel certainly gives "good old fashioned service"

Room Tip: Book early

I am rather tardy in filing this report as I stayed last June/July for a week. It was actually one
of the best holidays myself and husband had experienced for many years. This hotel provides
exactly what it says it will on its website, excellent service levels from everyone though we had
a particular soft spot for Trevor in the restaurant. Nothing at all was too much trouble. The
hotel is well looked after and in immaculate order, the decoration tends to the traditional but
rather that than looking mutton dressed as lamb. I have stayed at many a 4 star hotel that
did not have such very good standards as this one. I especially like the smart dress rule in
the restaurant as it was very nice to enter and see that everyone had made some effort. When
we stayed there were several formation dance groups from the Midlands who had visited
several times a year for very many years. Lovely people and it was a delight to watch them
dance in the evening.Very well positioned especially if you book early and have a sea view
room as we did. Good safe parking. Well situated as we could walk into Paignton and used
the trains/buses the entire week . We have spent the last few months deciding where to go
in 2012 and guess what it looks as if it will be the Redcliffe as it is all we like in a holiday
hotel.

Room Tip: Book very early in the season if you want a seaview room, especially if you would like a balcony as...

A classic English coastal hotel. The position of the hotel is perfect. It is located literally at the waters edge. So much so, that you could be on a cruise liner while in the restaurant.
The food was very good and the service friendly.
The amenities were really good, a pool, spa treatments, a ballroom sized dance floor and beauty salon.
Lifts available for the less able, and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Thank you for a very pleasant weekend.
Top tip.
During your stay, take some time out to visit Dartmouth. There is a steamtrain that runs during summer and Christmas seasons, but even if that is not running, the seven miles drive to Kingswier is easy. From there a short passenger ferry ride (£1:20 per adult each way) gets you into Dartmouth. Beautiful.....
Pop into the Cherub (built 1380) for a little libation to finish off a lovely afternoon.

Room Tip: You don't need to be at the front to have a nice view. We overlooked the prom from the top floor...

I have stayed here with friends a number of times on dancing holidays and at last took my family to visit this summer, the hotel is in a beautiful spot right on the sea front. The sun streams into the dining room and if you are lucky enough to have a sea view bedroom then come rain or shine the views are fab. This hotel has high standards and is very traditional, but this all adds to the experience. I especially like being served the cooked breakfast rather than having to keep getting up and helping yourself to everything as is usual in so many of the more busier chain hotels. The bedrooms are well presented and nice and clean, as are all the public areas. The fitness suite is adequate, the pool and changing faciilties are great and everything is well maintained throughout. The hotel has an outdoor pool too, but unfortunately the weather wasn't warm enough! The location is great for a seaside visit, we took the steam train to Dartmouth and then the boat to Agatha Christies house, so the hotel was the perfect base for this. I look forward to my next visit.

stayed for weekend (breakfast included) great view from bedroom. swimming pool/sauna/steamroom brilliant, staff very helpful and friendly however a few niggley points. Dress code for evening was shirt and tie no jeans NOT THE CASE unless your over 50 and they all seem to be in flannelette!!! nearly spent out on a suit what a waste that would have been!!! No dog rule NOT THE CASE there was a dog sat outside the restaurant whilst the owner was inside. Had to leave by 11am on departure day. went out for walk after breakfast came back with 1 1/2 hrs to spare and the door was open and a maid was changing the bedding!!! thought i had paid till 11am obviously not.

Having recently stayed at this hotel for my wifes birthday I can honestly say that it should be a four star rating. The Dining room and service was very good, the lounges and dance area are very good, The leisure facilities like the swimming pool steam room etc are very well kept and the attendents are very helpful as well, the only complaint if I am nit picking is the bed in room 88, it has had it's day. No car parking charges. It is an old fashion lovely relaxed atmosphere which I particularly like. I can certainly recommend this hotel and I shall be returning again. As one previous comment says what more do you want than sitting in the Dick Francis lounge with a nice afternoon tea looking out onto Paighton beach - I can't wait to return.

Went here as it looked so nice on the website but very let down. No duvets horrible thin sheets and old blankets, eeewww. had to pay more for extra UHT milk ? room service is off the scale limited and very slow. Staff grumpy, especially bar staff !!!!! Resturant staff a little better, although we were already booked in for (4 days ) we were told we still had to book an evening table !!!!!!!! Warm wine !!!! Breakfast staff better and a better meal. would not go back.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room at least you can enjoy the sea.
