food was excellent and so was the service . my advice to anybody visiting is that not to rush in giving poor verdict , on your visit , as the new management team are eager to get the place up to a very good standard , as soon as possible .

This restaurant / Pub is now under new management and I was pleased to see they have started the old carvery again.
The new owners are very keen to shake off the image of the last management.

I tried the carvery and was very pleased with the selection of meats and vegetables available.
They have a nice selection of sweets if you have room for them.

Well done Half Moon you are going in the right direction.

We had stopped going to the Half Moon due to the previous owners attitude , but upon finding out it had changed hands we decided to give it another try.
The new owner and staff were very friendly and the new menu had something for all tastes, specials were on the board.
The food was freshly cooked and worth waiting for, my lamb was very tender falling off the bone, my husband had the pie which he said was very tasty (high praise from this pie connoisseur!)
There was lots of entertainment up and coming on posters. We will be going back tomorrow for the quiz!
In summary, a clean friendly place with a good menu at good prices.

Went there for lunch a couple of days ago with low expectations due to the reviews but prepared to give them a chance. We had been there about three years ago when it was very busy and the food was good but something had happened with a new owner that stopped us going and now it seems there is another set of new owners.

It was around 1.20pm and the boards outside spoke of the carvery and FREE salad bar but if there was one it wasn't obvious and didn't get pointed out when ordering the carvery meals so we went without so maybe it's only available in the evenings. There was a choice of two meats, beef and pork and several vegetables and the food was quite warm but not "piping" but not stone cold. It was "acceptable" but not outstanding but not bad enough to say that we wouldn't be going back. There were about 20 people there so plenty of empty tables. The gentleman who served us wasn't what you would call the most friendly of hosts but the lady chef was more friendly. A younger woman came over during the meal to make sure we were happy with the food. A bit of work needs to be done on the the restaurant being more welcoming. As there was a poster up with various events going on in the evening maybe that's a better time to go to get a better atmosphere.

We visited to check out what the food was like, as we had read in the local paper that they were under New Management. We should have realised that it was not up to much when we saw how empty the pub was. We decided to give the carvery a try. The meat was not too bad, but the vegetables were disgusting, they were over cooked and sitting in water, as well as being cold, and tastless, I think they had been out keeping warm for a very long time. None of the dishes on the hot plate had lid's on to help keep them hot. We were not a late lunch time customer, it was 12.30, I feel sorry for people coming in for a late lunch. We are locals and this is one lunch time venue we will be avoiding.
