“great little guesthouse”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

We enjoyed 6 nights at the end of July staying at this lovely guest house. It is situated in a quiet street, only a few minutes from the seafront. Richard and Jill keep it spotless, and our two family rooms were spacious and pleasant. Biscuits and drinks were replenished in our rooms each day and there was nice shower gel, and liquid soap provided. They also had a fridge of non alcoholic drinks available to all guests to purchase, which was a brilliant idea. Breakfasts were consistently good, including lovely fresh fruit and yoghurts. Cooked breakfasts were freshly made and always and hot and tasty. The only things I think could make the guest house even better are are full length mirrors in the bedrooms(which most women would probably find useful) and low key background music whilst having breakfast - but these are minor points. The guest house was good value for money and we would happily return here again. Thanks Richard and Jill

Room Tip: ask for a family room as they are spacious

We have just returned from our fouth visist to this lovely guest house. The welcome is so inviting with Gill & Richard welcoming you into their home with open arms. All the rooms are very clean & well decorated & I think the only room which does not have en suite facilities is the single at the front. There are tea & coffee making facilities in all rooms & lovely biscuits (our girls check what is in our room & then swap with their cousins) & wi fi. The food is fabulous with masses of choice for breakfast from fruit salad, crereals, yougurts & not forgetting the fabulous full english. Our daughters, neice & nephews had something different every day on our three night stay whilst most of the adults had something cooked! The guest house is a short walk from the beach - about five minutes at most and is located down a small one way street - so hardly any passing traffic & lovely & quiet. Also, it is far enough away from the town to be bothered by people coming back from the pubs & clubs. Honestly for value for money & comfort this place can not be beat!

Myself and three friends stayed here during the pirate festival in Brixham this May. No more than five minutes walk from the train station and a minute from the nearest bus stop, St. Marguerite's is ideally placed. The owners were absolutely wonderful hosts and we all slept fantastically. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and cooked to whatever requirements we fancied - My friend just had bacon! Richard and Jill were incredibly welcoming, allowing us to access our rooms early, stay past check-out and even leave our luggage with them during the day following our stay, to save us lugging it around Brixham! We loved our stay! :)

My girlfriend and I (and a friend) stayed at here while on a week's karate course at the nearby Torbay Leisure Centre. And what a find! The owners, Richard and Jill were wonderful hosts; friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area. Our rooms were immaculate, the breakfasts superb and the location fantastic: the house is just a short walk to the beach and town centre, but is in a very peaceful little side road. Add free parking and excellent value for money, and you can't go wrong. St Marguerite is an absolute gem.

Richard and Jill are lovely and their B&B is so welcoming. This is our 2nd trip here; we came 2 years ago and loved it. This time, we had a large, nicely decorated triple room with a very comfortable kingsize bed and a single. The bathroom looks new, with big, fluffy towels. The breakfast was AMAZING. I had scrambled eggs on toast, and my family said that their full english and omelettes were really good.

There are buckets, spades, and nets for the children to take down to the beach. The lounge is really nice and very large.

Parking on the road is a bit hair raising and requires some very good parallel parking skills.

This is a really comfortable, well thought out B&B. We loved it!

Rooms are well equipped, clean and comfortable. The hosts are very welcoming and can cook a lovely breakfast. The location is just minutes walk away from the town or beach and ideal for walking some of the South Devon Coastal Path. I would also recommend the frequent bus service for getting about the area. What more could you ask for.

We were met at the door and assisted to the room with heavy luggage. We had the triple room which was was very clean , large and comfortable. The hosts were extremely helpful in many ways. The only down side was the traffic noise to the front of the building, with or without the window open.
