This is the third time we have stayed in Earlston House and have always enjoyed our visits. I had to stay for a night at short notice with my 6 month old daughter and was made to feel extremely welcome. On arrival I was upgraded to a larger room for no extra cost which I really appreciated. The cooked breakfast is lovely and there is fruit, cereals, juice etc available. The owners are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, and did everything possible to make sure we enjoyed our stay in Paignton. I would definitely recommend this hotel to families and anyone looking for a quiet, friendly hotel within easy reach of Paignton and all its amenities.

Me and my family required a couple of nights to stay over in the seaside area. We booked as it came up on budget. Plus we had a 15 month baby to think about. Rooms clean you could eat your food off of the carpets, breakfast freshly cooked - full English absolutely spot on. New refurbished bathroom really posh. Really friendly staff having a baby was not a problem. Don't be put off by the very dark stair well on entry.

My husband & I have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel. I am a little obsessive to say the least, when it comes to choosing the right accommodation ;) I took ages sorting through reviews and was thrilled with my choice.
This is a lovely place to stay, Marie & Sally are very welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. We requested an earlier breakfast for our first morning as we had plans for the day, that was no problem. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty, more than enough to set you up for the day.
We had room 3, absolutely gorgeous, sea view, loved the huge bathroom and the freestanding bath.
Bottled water and a generous drinks tray.
And as for the bed.........super kingsize, Lovely Jubbly!!
We definitely want a return visit, this hotel is now in our top 2 of places to stay, we cannot recommended it highly enough.
In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger............. I'll be back :)

Me and my partner stayed here for a week over summer to explore Devon and chose this b&b based on its Tripadvisor reviews and the website pictures.

The good things were the breakfast, the bathroom was nice, new and spacious, the seafront and pubs/places to eat were a nearby walk, relatively quiet location, plenty of information and facilities in the room, and the friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was served 9am-9:30am which I prefer but it was stated that if you wanted to eat earlier to let them know. I believe you could also have meals in the hotel but we didn't do this. There's also a bar downstairs but we also didn't use this as we were out and about quite a bit!

The not so good was that the room we were in didn't look as nice as on the website (could maybe do with a bit of updating) and the parking was a little bit awkward - there is on site parking but it's sort of cramped and requires a bit of manouevering. Be warned it's also at the top of quite a steep hill so anyone with problems with mobility might want to consider this.

Overall this was fine as a base and the staff were really nice. Paignton was also good as base to get elsewhere in Devon though there was also plenty to do there and places to eat/drink. I'd be happy to stay at Earlston House again but would maybe request a different room. We were also advised at checkout that if we wanted to stay again to ring them rather than book online as the room rates would be cheaper, so might be worth ringing them

We have just spent four nights at the Earlston and had a lovely time, Sally & Marie are excellent hosts, and the breakfasts we lovely. We enjoyed some lovely evenings in the bar with other guests who were very friendly, and the bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Would certainly stay again if we are in the area.

My wife and I have stayed in lots of guest houses, b&b's and hotels all over the country. We always start our visit with a points system which starts at 10. Points can be given or taken away depending on a number of criteria. No one so far has kept all of their 10 points in all the places in which we've stayed. Earlston House which is expertly run by Marie and Sally have proved to us that it can be done. Clean, tidy, all the lights and cupboards work, clean sheets and towels, very comfortable and a frendly family. Well done girls, all our future weekends away will now be based on your benchmark. Heven help the rest of the places we stay at.

This is probably one of the best guest house’s we have stayed in. Room six was spotlessly clean, spacious and very comfortable. Marie and Sally are excellent hosts, nothing is too much trouble and the breakfast is great. There is a small bar where we enjoyed a drink and talking to other residents. We will definitely be returning to Earlstone House when we are next in the area. Thank you Marie and Sally.
