We have just returned today from a 5 night stay in Paignton at the Norwegian Wood and what a fabulous time we had! In a sea of available B&B's, John and Heather's beautiful home stands out like a sparkling gem!
What gracious and accommodating hosts! Nothing was too much trouble for them and it was a pleasure to stay there.
We had the family room and it looks exactly like the photos that are on here and their website. Spacious, spotless and extremely comfortable beds! Our little boy had the pull out sofa bed which gave him lots of room and our bed was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in when being away!
The views from the bedroom are breathtaking and on a sunny day you can see the sea glistening in between the tree tops as you look out. Even from the garden the views are stunning.
This isn't the cheapest B&B that you can find in the area, but to be honest you get what you pay for and our stay here was worth every penny and still a good price for the high season!
The food that you get in the morning is all cooked to order by Heather, and you can enjoy anything from a full English breakfast with free range eggs and good quality sausages to a bowl of organic muesli, if that's your fancy. Definitely the right way to start the day!
The B&B is only a 10 minute walk down to the beach but also walking distance into Torquay as well, if you want an extra bit of exercise!
Heather was also incredibly good with our six year old little boy and he spent time chatting with her quite a bit on the occasions that we were not out and about exploring the local area. He also had a fantastic time playing with Crystal the kitten - thank you Heather for your patience when he was charging up and down the hallway dragging her mouse toy along! ;-)
All in all a very happy family holiday and a great experience at this lovely B&B! We will be recommending Norwegian Wood to our family and friends and should we return to Paignton, we already know exactly where we will be staying! :-D

The location is perfect - great sea views and a short stroll to the beach. The breakfast was delicious (and organic, as promised.) The house was spotlessly clean and very pleasant inside. The toys in the shared living room were excellent for keeping our children entertained (whilst we enjoyed the board games). But the thing that really 'made it' for us were the hosts - they are incredibly hospitable and did everything they could to make us feel truly welcome. Sometimes it is the small things that make the biggest difference and returning to find our soggy shoes had been dried by the AGA was very much appreciated! It's rare that time away with three young children is 'relaxing' but we really did enjoy our short time away. Our children were very sad to leave and so were we!

My partner and I stayed for a week, with our 15 month old daughter and were sad to leave. Our room had a wonderful view, overlooking the stunning garden and out to the sea. The hosts, Heather and John are friendly and attentive; going out of their way to make us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them.

All the rooms are clean, comfortable and have an easy, relaxing feel to them and the location of the house is ideal for walking distance for the beach and Pier in Paignton as well as a leisurely stroll to nearby Cockington and Torquay.

A lovely place to stay.

Heather &a John are superb hosts and nothing is to much trouble. A beautiful home with superb accommodation. Everything is thought of and it's the ideal place to relax and enjoy being by the sea.

Super comfy beds, spacious rooms, all amenities catered for and the garden over looking the bay is idyllic.

The organic meals are a delight with fresh produce and plenty of it. Totally impressed with Norwegian Wood and look forward to taking friends and family soon.

Two months after reservation (on Booking.com: no deposit required, free cancellation), they decided they wanted 27 pounds more and a deposit within 24 hours.
How nice of them. Luckily by the time I got their email telling me they had decided to increase my room rate and they wanted a deposit I did not even have a chance to send them a deposit. I don't doubt if this folks had a chance to charge more later on they would have just decided to increase my rate again, or just given the room to somebody else for more money and told me, sorry no room upon check-in. Real trustworthy people.
The reservation was for Junly 2017, since they canceled my reservation I am not able to review them as they deserve on Booking.com, so if you are impressed by their 9.8 booking.com rating consider that every unhappy customer they canceled on was not allowed to post a review.

Due to guest no show over Christmas and New year, I was advised to charge prepayment deposit on all bookings in 2017. Unfortunately this booking came in before the changes had been made. Although it was unfortunate for this booker that the had a little extra to pay( normal rate mid summer) He objects very strongly . methinks he protests too much. It is likely he would cancel booking just before or no show. It is a reasonable request to reasonable people, blame the inconsiderate peeps who don't bother turning up for the policy change.x heather
