“Safe for children when the tide's out ......”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

Goodrington Sands is a great beach especially when the tide’s out & the large expanse of tidal sand flats is exposed. We spent 3 days down the beach during May half-term & really enjoyed it. The beach is clean & the sand perfect for sandcastle building & general play. We prefer the southern end of the beach near the rock pools, South Sands Cafe & the toilets. You also get great views of the Steam Trains on the Dartmouth Railway – always fun to wave at!

When we’re in Paignton we always head to Goodrington when the sun’s out & enjoy every second of it.

“Great hot and sunny days on the beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

We spent two hot sunny days on the beach here at the end of the May half term holiday. My son dug holes, made sandcastles, paddled in the sea and enjoyed looking in the rock pools. Good cups of tea are available from the seafront takeaway along with yummy doughnuts and other snacks. Unfortunately no ground coffee was available at either outlet due to technical problems but it didn't spoil the day! Buckets and spades were well priced, only downside was lack of change in the shop.

“One time beautiful area, now very tatty.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

I used to visit Goodrington sands a lot, and absolutely loved it. They say it's a mistake to go back anywhere, and in this case it's true. The beach itself, and the cliff walk are still great, which is why I've given two stars (I'd have given none otherwise),but the rest of the complex has seen much better days. The Brewers Fayre pub (The Inn on the Quay) needs a major facelift, or preferably flattening and rebuilding. It's so scruffy looking, we didn't bother going in. Please, please Torbay council and Brewers Fayre: do something to restore Goodrington Sands to its former glory.

Nice long stretch of beach, lovely park and lots of family activites. Worth a visit ! Really nice to see the train passing though too. The children loved the quad bike and boat area in the park.

“Lovely Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

This is a lovely beach of red sand, which has a shallow slope into the see. This means that when the tide goes out a large expanse of sand is uncovered plus some rock pools. There is an amusement arcade a drinks/snack bar and a Brewers Fare "Inn on the Quay", which serves very nice food (and beer). A real bonus is that the Steam Train goes right along behind the beach to Dartmouth and the station is right there so you can catch it. It felt as if the train went past about every 15 minutes - fantastic. There is no parking on the beach, but there are a couple of huge car parks less than 3 minutes walk away. In the sun - a perfect day out.
