We dined as a party of 6 and generally all the starters were ok (average). The mains however were below par on most counts. The worst of all was the plaice which arrived a little dry and overcooked and was incredibly smaller that the other diners portions that we all saw arriving earlier that night. When we spoke to the manageress about the fish (before it was finished) she tried to say they were all served the same that night. (not true). We were told that was the last portion available that night. The only thing that saved the night was the good service from the younger waitresses working that night. When we had finished eating I requested to see the manageress again and I asked for an allowance to be made for the unsatisfactory plaice meal and she agreed to this. When the final bill arrived which was just short of £200 for all 6 she had knocked just £3 off for the bad meal (whoosh!). We couldn't be bothered to continue the problem any further so we paid in full and left a tip (hopefully the 2 waitresses will get a share for their good service and interaction). Also on my two previous visits here the service at the reception was very helpful and informative. I hope the younger members of staff keep up the good work.
