“The worst hotel ever”
Reviewed September 15, 2009

I booked the Rowecroft Hotel through the internet as they advertised they were dog friendly. i emailed details of my dog and the owners confirmed they would expect us on August bank holiday weekend for 4 nights.
When we arrived at the Hotel the look of horror on the owners face as she cried "you've got a dog, whos said you could bring a dog". You did! You can't come in as we are not dressed.
With a greeting like that we decided to lose our deposit and book another Hotel, the seaview where the owner was very pleasant and did not mind the dog.

Arrived here on Friday 28th August for a 3 night stay after booking back in April for 2 adults and a dog after seeing it on a dog friendly website we had received confirmation that the dog would be allowed at a cost of £8 per night. Rang the doorbell and was greeted by a rude scruffily dressed woman in an old tracksuit and tshirt who quite aggressively asked "who said that you could bring the dog?" after saying that it had been agreed with them she backtracked saying that the room would be ready in half and hour, they hadn't got it ready yet. They also said that I had to leave a towel in the porch to wipe the dog down before he entered otherwise he wouldn't be allowed in (I wouldn't mind, but the hotel was filthy inside anyway). After this welcome we decided to book somewhere else, losing our £56.00 deposit. In the end we booked with Seaways Hotel and the Commodore on the esplanade. These were much friendlier hotels who didn't have a problem with the dog coming.

we recently tried to book a weeks holiday at this hotel. We were very dissapointed to be told that we had to use there travelle cot and were not allowed to use our own. ( we have never had this problem before and the hotel we chose has no problem with this) The original price of the hotel was £348 but because we have got a 12 week old son who we were taking with us she wanted to charge us extra making it £476, that means they wanted to charg us and extra £128 for out 12 old son, who would not be eating or anything. We asked her if she would possibly do it for any less, and she answered with " no that is how much we charge you will have to find somewhere else" in a very rude manner. We researched and found that this hotle is one of very few that actually charges for children under three. The place we are going now is much better and we have not been charged for our 2 youngest children aged 17 months and 12 weeks and we have only been charged half the adult price for our 5 year old daughter. The owner of this hotel was not very helpful and I would not recomend it to any one with children.

I love this hotel. The staff are very friendly, and the breakfasts are superb. I would recommend it to anyone, however the weather wasn't to good at the time, but whenever the sun was out it was excellent. Brilliant beaches, and lots of places to visit.

The welcome is warm and Cynthia and Les do everything possible to make your stay an enjoyable one. Would recommend! Reasonably priced too!!!
