“Definitely worth a visit - great food”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

We've lived round the corner from the pub for over 9 years but have avoided it in all that time as our only meal there was so awful we couldn't face ever going back! Happily we have a great new landlord who is really keen to make the pub a success and we've now been there many times in the last few months as a couple but also taking family and friends all of whom are as impressed as us. Food is really good quality and always really well presented. My husband likes real ale and there are usually several to choose from always served in good condition including his favourite Jail Ale! So if like us you haven't been for a while I'd definitely say go and check it out you'll be pleasantly surprised!

“Excellent steaks!!”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

My husband and I are locals at The Parkers Arms and go every Sunday for the lovely Sunday carvery and are always pleased with the hot and freshly cooked roast. We had often seen the promotions for Wednesday night 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £20, Thursday curry night 2 currys for £9.95 and Friday cod and chips and decided to go to the steak night on the Wednesday just passed. We were extremely pleased with the service as they were friendly and helpful with a good knowledge of the menu that evening. My husband and I had the two steaks and a bottle of wine and were pleasantly surprised with how delicious our freshly cooked steaks were. Following that we had two of the homemade desserts that were presented beautifully, I had the chocolate brownie covered in a warm chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream and my husband the lemon tart. Both of which were served at a very high standard!! Will be trying the other promotional nights very soon!!

“Disgraceful Meal.”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

Had to get our drinks ourselves as staff were chatting amongst themselves, they were inexpirienced but pleasant. Wifes main course arrived a plain burger. It was covered in cheese which she has an allergy to so it had to go back I was left to get on with my meal so we were to eat separately.the main problem came with dessert which was billed as a ginger & lemon crunch. Alas this was no more than a commercial cheesecake supplied by a local food supplier no doubt. Once again the cheese problem, however my wife had tried a spoonful of it and declared it to taste funny in addition to the cheese problem. So I decided to try it and agreed it had a 'tang 'to it. As it was a badly lit area where we sat I examined the dessert in good light and found one side to be GREEN with mould. They did not charge us for it! offered a measly coffee as a sweetener, we declined, manager nowhere to be seen, no reduction in bill. Wrote to H/O not even the courtesy of a reply. Don't deserve to trade.

“A very tasty meal”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

We spotted the Parkers Arms on our way back into Paignton and decided to go there for a meal - and we're very pleased we did!

We had been rather disappointed with the pubs in Paignton, as we'd expected some tasty fresh fish options, but the Parkers Arms menu was the best we saw. I had smoked mackeral and caper pate, a generous portion that came with 8 slices of toast instead of the usual 4 slices, moussaka, and apple & cinammon crumble. The salad garnishes that came with the starter and main course were well presented with a delicious dressing. Hubby had a beef curry, followed by a pint of prawns (which was really a started but he doesn't have a sweet tooth). The food was served piping hot, which makes a pleasant change as so many places only seem to manage lukewarm food.

The service was very friendly and fast at first (when there was only one other table occupied) but understandably got a bit slower by the time we at the dessert stage as there were about 60 other diners in!

“Glad we found it”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

We decided to dine out and stumbled upon this pub just out of Paignton. We weren't aware of the steak night offer until we arrived so it was a pleasant surprise. We had mussels to start which were excellent.....very tasty, then the steak and bottle of wine offer. The meals were both very good with plenty served, and all piping hot. The staff were very friendly at assertive. Excellent value.
