Owner description: Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is a conservation and education charity located in South Devon. With around two thousand animals, we have more species than anyone else in the South West. These include: crocodiles, snakes, lions, tigers, giraffes, elephant, rhinos, lemurs, meerkats, orang utans...The list is endless! We also have indoor play areas, the Jungle Express train and a lakeside restaurant. If you wish, we also offer special feeding experiences with certain animals, e.g. meerkats, giraffes, giant tortoises, etc. Paignton Zoo is a member of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

“Paignton Zoo, a great day out”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

Paignton Zoo, a great day out , with plenty to see and do for all age groups. The animals seem well cared for and have a lot of space to roam around in. The onsite restaurant is very good, but there are other eteries in various places in the zoo grounds. The one downside is the zoo no longer has the penguins on site, they were a great attraction for young and old. They have now been moved to Living Coasts on Torquay Harbour, which is worth a visit, but you have to pay again.

“Keeper for a day”
Reviewed November 20, 2012 via mobile

I was lucky enough to be given "keeper for a day" for my 40th birthday. I spent the day at the zoo this weekend for a truly once in a lifetime experience. The staff were amazing, passionate about the animals, full of information and happy to share their working day. Absolutely fantastic and highly recommended.

“A great day out”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

Loads of animals to see, and you can see most of them at close quarters. The information provided is useful and informative. Make sure you check out the event times on the board just inside the entrance for feeding times and keeper talks. The maps and signs inside the zoo make it very easy to find your way around, and you can find your favourite animals location on these too.
The grounds are kept very tidy, there was no litter to be seen on our visit at all.
The zoo is easily a days visit, but you can get a combined ticket if you want to visit Living Coasts as well.
