This was a LOVELY place to stay!
Such a warm welcome - a cup of coffee and a home-made cup cake. Tony and Jill were most excellent hosts. I had a really pretty little bedroom, with so many little extras - toiletries even included a sewing kit and mini toothpaste, and the tea tray had about six different hot drinks, biscuits, and a bowl of sweets, I felt really spoilt! Very comfortable bed.
A peaceful, sunny house with a welcoming, happy atmosphere. Ideal location - the beach is literally 2 minutes walk down the road.
Fabulous hot breakfast with a big choice of cooked items. Scrambled egg especially good!
Really friendly hosts. I accidentally locked myself out of my room (by leaving the key inside) at 10.30pm and rang their bell for help with some trepidation... but Tony and Jill were absolutely fine about it and let me back in with a laugh and a smile. What more can I say?

One of the best Guest Houses we have stayed at. Jill and Tony are so pleasant and friendly and find time to chat with you over a cuppa when you arrive. We had a lovely clean and spotless room and the breakfast is first class. St Edmunds Guest House is just a few minutes' walk to the sea front or into the town and parking is again just perfect. We would highly recommend this lovely guest house and it is a credit to the lovely couple who run it.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights. I would recommend the place highly. Tony and Jill are very friendly and the food is great. We had a lovely chat about all kinds of things and soon felt as though we'd known them for a long time. The guest house is dog friendly and we found that very useful, There were other guests with dogs as well as us, but there didn't appear to be any problems. We'll definitely go back when next in the area.

I've been travelling in the UK on business for the past 2 weeks and keep coming back to Jill & Tony at St. Edmunds. It's a wonderful guest house in a great location and spotless clean. A delicious freshly cooked breakfast sets up the day. Jill & Tony are warm, welcoming and most helpful. This is the only place to stay in Paignton. I will definitely be back with my wife for a weekend break.

My husband and I stayed in St Edmunds Guest House overnight in order to attend a family funeral in Paignton on the recommendation of a cousin who has stayed there on several occasions. Although we were only there a short time, we were so touched by the warm attention provided by the friendly and hard-working Jill and Tony. They delayed their evening’s plans in order to greet us with homemade cakes and tea even though we arrived much later than we originally planned, and then took the time to settle us into our comfy bedroom and direct us to a suitable restaurant before taking themselves off. As mentioned in previous reviews the morning’s breakfast was brilliant and the service outstanding. And when my husband realised that he’d forgotten to pack a tie for the funeral, Tony was right there with his own black tie to loan. We were so grateful for their kindness and thoughtfulness and definitely hope to stay there again when we are next in Paignton.

Had one night stay, wished it had been longer. We was greeted by Jill and Tony, with a coffee and a homemade cup cake it was delish. Jill and Tony made you feel at home straight away, and nothing is to much trouble for them.

The room was very clean and comfortable with everything you need, the beds were so cosy which made for a good nights sleep. Also if you have walking difficulties if you ring Jill or Tony I am sure they would make sure you could have one of the down stairs rooms if available at the time, as everything is on one level. plus the bonus is they have a private free car parking alongside the property, so you dont have to go hunting for somewhere to park.
I also liked the idea where you pre ordered your breakfast the night before, on the forms which Jill or Tony gave you.
The breakfast is delicious and well cooked, really sets you up for the day. With plenty of good choices. If you wanted you can have an evening meal, packed lunch etc, just ask when booking.
Thank you very much Jill and Tony, we will stay again in the near future, and the price was unbeatable.

the location is excellent for the railway station and onward travel steam or standard, plus all on the flat.Turn left out of St Edmunds, down to the bottom then right, and on the right hand side you will see a weatherspoons which is good for food and drink and good value for money.
Or turn right, and before you get to the rail crossing you will see a street with lidle supermarket at the bottom, on the right hand side you will find a really nice fish and chip shop, and over the crossing a nice cake shop and a few shops to have a look at..
Go the other way out of St Edmunds and you will come to the coast road and the harbour, which is nice to have a walk around.
