“Another wonderful family holiday at Benbows”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2012

We have just returned from another excellent stay in Paignton, and would like to pass on our thanks to Lynn and Pete for contributing to the overall experience

The accommodation is more than adequate, bearing in mind how little time is actually spent in your room

The situation is excellent for a short walk into town passing the harbour on the way, or a trip over the hill and down to Goodrington

The breakfast is second to none, and really sets you up for the day, often needing very little to tide you over until your evening meal - it is always served with a smile, with an offer of additional tea, coffee and toast if required, which is very rare

Lynn and Pete are very knowledgeable of their local area, and can always offer suggestions on what is on and where to go locally - this year we visited Coleton Fishacre (a National Trust property), and were overwhelmed by the gardens and views

In short, we would not go anywhere else in South Devon, and would not hesitate in recommending Benbows for a friendly stay, and excellent value for money

We stayed here with our 1 year old - the price was great value and the breakfast fantastic. The guest house was child friendly with cots/toys/highchairs available, and the owners lovely and very accomadating.
There were 2 downsides - the family room we were given was a basement room and was unfortunately damp, not ideal for a baby. Also the bathroom was not ideal for children's use as it was very cramped with only a shower, and there was nowhere in the room to hang wet towels etc to dry.
Also, as the room was very close to the bar, it was noisy in the evening when other guests were using the bar area.

Hello Becky,

We are sure you won't mind us posting your other comments, left in our Guest Book, prior to your departure "Thank you for a lovely child friendly stay"

When you left the bar after celebrating your birthday, you could easily have asked us to close the bar door, we are sure the other two persons in the bar would not have minded! We do close at 11 pm.

We hope that you, your partner and child stay with us on another occasion in the future and that we may have the opportunity to serve you again. Don't forget, as part of our welcome and as listed in our hand book, we do ask you to inform us immediately if there is anything else we can do to make your stay even better. If we don't know, we can not help.

Best regards
Benbows

We stayed here for a night while walking the South West Coastal Path. The room was decorated to a good standard, the owners were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast the next morning was delicious. We thought it was good value for the price we paid.
