4 adults 2 children and a baby :) we had tea here last night , the food is good value for money , after reading other feed back i really cant complain , if you want al a carte then pay al a carte prices . we didn't bother with starters but all had a main course and pudding along with 2 drinks each .we did have to re order our puddings as they had ran out (they were only sundaes) the bill was £85 in total which is ok .The staff were very helpful and asked if everything was ok with our food and if they could get us anything else and even changed the channel twice on the TV located at our table for the children in our group. However as we were placing our order someone( I THINK THE MANAGER) interrupted the person serving us to do something on the till and with only i drink left to order i thought was quiet rude and he could have waited. up on leaving i left my baby's changing bag which also contained my purse with several cash/credit cards and over £150 worth of gift cards. i rang them this morning and went to collect it . everything was still there but they had left the bag on the side were other customers were freely walking in and out to get breakfast. just a good job everyone was honest and nobody took it before i got there. would i return

“Please wipe your menus”
Reviewed May 31, 2013 via mobile

I had a lunch meeting here this week. It was ok apart from filthy menus which had dried crusty food on them.

The building is lovely and great for the restaurant. The steak was a little chewy, it's a good job I have my own teeth.

I will probably go again if I'm in the area.

“Always pleasent”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Come here regularly and have for years. The decor is very pleasant and the staff always make an effort to be welcomming. OK the food isn't by Gordon Ramsey, but it is very aceeptable all the same. THE Atmosphere is always good and the food prices are very competitive. THey sometimes do a pensiioners special during the week, and thats always welcome !

“Not Great”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

Two of us ate here 25 May 2013 first time at a Hungry Horse. Looks attractive from the outside. Lots of different dining areas representing the old house it used to be. It was very busy. Welcomed nicely by a young lady and put our name down for a table. Went to bar for a drink while waiting. Bottle of wine initially given had been opened and wasn't full, was replaced for another. We realised it was warm and asked for a cold one and the barman slammed down the replacement. Ended up eating outside so food came quite quickly which was good. Ordered the Cheese and Tomato Pizza with a side of chips - the pizza is large and square but absolutely tasteless the base is cheap and more breadlike. The chips were a small portion and most were tiny and just looked badly cooked. Other dish ordered was the Wo/Man Versus Burrito with Pulled Pork which is huge but the pork was VERY dry and had obviously been reheated. Hardly any chips with this dish and were the same poor quality. The menu seems to be vast with lots of interesting items but if they are anything like the food we had we won't be trying it. Another thing we noticed is a bottle of wine seems quite cheap compared to other places but the alcohol content is less than that of a bottle elsewhere no big deal but that is probably why it is cheaper. On a final note are the staff on commission if you buy a dessert? The waitress asked and when we refused said it's 2 for £5 and when we still declined she looked quite bereft!! Any Management response won't change our mind but maybe they will feel better for commenting!

“You get what you pay for”
Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

The food is very cheap and the quality defiantly shows that. We ordered a lasagne which my sister said smelt like mould, a big sharing chicken quesadilla thing which had basically no chicken and was just onions and peppers in tortillas smothered in cheese, and a southern friend chicken baguette which was drowning in mayonaise. Overall not very nice food. Not much service to it, had to get up to order our own food and after that the only time we saw the waiters was when delivering the food. Not recommended.
