Recently ate here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon, as it was a rare occasion for the sun to make an appearance we ate outside, staff are friendly and attentive but not too overbearing, we both had a greek salad which was scrummy, reasonable prices and good service.

We had decided to go to Gallimores as we'd heard lots of great comments about it. It calls it's self a fine dining restaurant but the service rubbish for "fine dining" restaurant. As walked in the waitress looked at us and turned back around and carried on standing there. Didn't bother to speak to us. So I asked could we have a table for two. Another waitress came over, who also didn't smile and did take us to a table squashed between two bigger loud parties. She eventually did come over and said we could move to another table but don't understand why she couldn't have done that at the beginning as we did ask for a quiet table.

Girl who took our drinks order took out her notepad that was tucked down her skirt! Not sure I wanted to see so much flesh as lifted her top up to get it! Not sure why they don't have aprons on with pockets. Both waitresses were ok in general they're not the worst I've seen, but no where near up to a fine dining experience. Both needed lessons in smiling.

We had chicken and sweet corn soup for starters which was horrible. It seemed to be blended chicken paste with a load of garlic. It was bubbling boiling hot when it came and felt like it had been zapped in the microwave and burned my tongue on it.

For mains my husband had steak and I had chicken, both which were cooked beautifully with peppercorn sauce. They came with funky thick cut chips and veges. These were great dishes.

We had to wait for a while before we attract the attention of the waitress to order some more drinks, felt they could've done more watching to see where their diners were up to. The owner was really nice, very friendly, but maybe a bit less chatting and watching his staff would be more useful at keeping hold of his customers.

Generall I feel disappointed at this restaurant. From the front of the restaurant it looks classy and upmarket and it's reputation is great, but inside looked a bit cheap and their website is dreadful, still not sure why they have their food hygiene certificate displayed on the dining room wall.

We will go back again to try it once more in case it was a bad night, but it won't be somewhere I'd rush to, we much preferred fat olive to here.
