Out for a meal - 2 couples looking for reasonable mid week meal , @ realistic price & needing good service..... yes sounds like a night at the High Moor again.

When we arrived to wait for our friends there was a large party of people celebrating a birthday in the lounge area. The girl who welcomed us in & asked for our drinks order made sure we got a seat away from the group & were settled in. Good service right from the off.

Our friends arrived & we all ordered, I was worried about being behind the large party ref service at the table , but it was no delay or issue at all thro the night.

I had the meatballs to start , followed by the Signature Lamb & poached pears to follow.
It was off their market Place menu and was all perfect for me.

Towards the end of the night the chef came out to have a chat which was anice touch.

We chose the High Moor for our special celebration with family and friends as it has always been a firm favourite with us. The booking initially for 15 people was accepted and our wishes for the day were adhered to. The menu was specially adapted to include a photo of us, which we felt was such a lovely touch as everyone had something to take away with them. The food and service were excellent and considering the restaurant was packed to capacity, we were not disappointed in any way. Everyone commented on the ambiance of the restaurant and the food spoke for itself - nothing left on the plates! The whole time we were there, we felt that we had special attention. The staff had been obviously been briefed about our party and always addressed either my husband or myself by name. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

my hubby brought me here as a surprise and we've been back with friends. Good food, fabulous desserts, but the veg to complement the meal could do with a little bigger portions

Our "gang" meet up for sunday lunch 3 or 4 times a year at this lovely oldie worldy restaurant, perched high in the hills of Lancashire.
We have been coming for years and the silver service is always a treat, along with the normally excellent, good value fare. Like ALL restaurants and humans, they have the odd bad day, but I hardly ever remember an off day here.
Personally the starter menu could do with a little more imagination, but they perhaps adhere to a sound adage of life - "stick to what you know"!!
Although the staff change and are often young, their training must be very good! Nothing seems too much trouble, extra gorgeous breads, extra fresh Yorkshire puddings and gravy appear within seconds.
For value, it would be grossly unfair to nit pick. We always order all seven deserts and a cheese platter and pass them around, because all are fantastic!
Just a great, old world, cosy, wonderful place with great food and staff.

Many thanks to all there, we will be back, again & again.

We have been to this restaurant a few times (indeed our daughter had her wedding reception here) and have never had course to complain, yes, can be a bit pricey at times but the food is to die for. Our latest visit was for Sunday dinner, 3 courses for £19.50, a bargain! I had pea and ham soup and the wife had chicken and hock spring roll, tasty, then came roast topside of beef for me and braised beef for her, delicious, and to round off fruit fritters and warm pear chocolate and almond frangipane tart, beautiful. The service was excellent especially as there were maybe 2/3 birthday parties in at the time of our arrival but the whole meal was well worth the money and it's a certainty we will return
