We were visiting Durham to see the Lindisfarne Gospels. As it was also our Wedding Anniversary we decided to stay overnight at Sniperley Hall B and B.

We were welcomed and shown to a large room which was lovely, looking out on to the front of the property and the distant hills. Our room was ensuite and had a sizeable shower. Toiletries were provided as were tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We have to agree with all the good points that have been written in previous reviews. We would certainly consider another stay there.

Breakfast was excellent and even included small boxes of Dorset cereal as well as Innocent fruit juices, and fresh fruit.

The Park and Ride was minutes away and we made use of this to avoid having to find a parking space in Durham City Centre. We also had the added bonus of being able to use our Senior Citizen Bus passes (after 0930) so the Park and Ride was free for us!

WiFi was available and free. The speed was excellent in the rooms.

Room Tip: We preferred the ensuite but the room with a bathroom across the landing benefited from a huge bathr...

We have just returned from a wonderful two night stay at Sniperley Hall. Jim greeted us warmly apologising as Irene was away. When he found out that we were there for the cricket, he immediately offered to drive us there at whatever time we wished. The house is beautiful and very homely, our room was enormous with lots of books and storage. We chose the room with a large private bathroom across the landing which wasn't a problem. Now to breakfast, which was a veritable feast - fresh fruit, some from the garden, yoghurts, Innocent fruit juice, lovely bread and a wonderful cooked breakfast, the eggs fresh from their hens. With only three rooms it meant that there was ample chance for good conversation in the breakfast room. As we love going to Chester-le-Street for cricket, we will hopefully stay here again many times

We had a two night stay recently and what a lovely time we had. The host JIm and his wife Irene, were very warm, friendly and welcoming. The house was beautiful and homely and the rooms were very large and comfortable and clean. The room had a big television and lots of books to cater for everyone. There was a good choice of beverages in the room and bottled water. The bed was very comfortable and the linen clean and fresh. The bathroom was beautiful with nice clean white towels. Breakfast was a delight with lots of choice. My husband had a full English , which consisted of top quality bacon, sausages ect and fresh eggs from their own chickens. There was a choice of fresh delicious breads. You could have basically anything you wished and Irene did me perfect poached eggs. Jim was fantastic in advising you where to go and how to get there and was a brilliant host. Their business is one to be proud of and we will certainly be going back again.

This is simply one of the very best B&B's we have stayed in! Attention to detail was evident throughout the 2 days we were at Sniperley Hall. The hosts are most accommodating and Jim very happily gave a lift to a couple who went to Beamish for the day!! The park and ride is a 5 minute walk away with a regular service to and from Durham and the house is elegant, spacious and tastefully decorated. Our en suite newly refurbished bedroom provided a tranquil and relaxing environment after exploring the delights of Durham! It is obvious the family know all about the finer points of hospitality, breakfast is a joy, with locally sourced produce, home-made bread and the resident chickens providing the eggs. If we were to find fault it would be with ourselves for not having stayed longer!! Our onward journey was an anti-climax as we had already stayed in the "best" If your ever go to Durham stay at Sniperley Hall

I had never visited NE England before and now I can't wait to go back!
Faultless from my large, spotlessly clean bedroom and bathroom to the magnificent breakfast served in the beautiful dining room. Fabulous gardens in which to sit/walk around. Attentive and informative hosts for whom nothing was too much trouble. I cannot recommend Sniperley Hall highly enough. Visit as soon as you can - you will not be disappointed.

Durham is a great city for a short break, and Sniperley Hall must be the pleasantest and best value place to choose. A very attractive house, attentive hosts, and an excellent breakfast. Well situated - a bit far to walk into Durham, but near to the park and ride. Very little to criticise except possibly that the entrance as easy to miss, and is from a fast-moving main road.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra to have the large room and very large bathroom ...

Sniperley Hall offers first class accommodation in a very quiet location. We live in rural Scotland so noise is a major factor. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Our room had a bathroom across the corridor but this was not a problem as this was a room almost as large as our bedroom! The breakfast was to be especially commended using local pork sausages and their own eggs. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask if you need en-suite but remember the excellence of the large private bathroom which is directly...
