Durham coast is beautiful!!! I walk my dog along easing ton beach banks every day, twice a day if I get the chance and I've been known to be gone for 3 hours at a time....... beautiful!! we get people from all over coming to walk their dogs here and we also get lots of people without dogs visiting just to see the lovely scenery!!

Much cleaner than I remember from my childhood but the wind keeps that 'bracing' feel to the air - so don't stray too far from the car.

How much this has changed the waters are now clean, having been in a small airplane and took photos you could see the bottom it was like parts of the med! the beaches are now clean no coal left and the walks along the cliffs are bracing.

An old colliery town that has seen some significant investment. Recently voted 25th best place in UK in Sunday Times to buy a second home. Whilst it still needs more TLC, the walk along noses point to the south of the town is an amazing coastal walk, well signposted with steps to the "blast beach" where Alien was filmed. There are many coffee shops, restaurants and pubs opening almost weekly and of course Lickety Splits a fabulous 1950's style ice cream shop that people come from far and wide to sample. Don't expect finesse, gentrification or a well tamed area but do expect something that's on the up and trying hard with an amazing coast line, and great people. Oh and a lovely hotel and spar Seaham Hall one of only two hotels in the NE to have 5*.

The beach is great for walking, whether you have a dog or not!
Seaham itself is tired and in need of some TLC and money spent on it, but the beach is clean.
