This was a golfing "weekend" (well, Sunday and Monday actually). The package was a good deal as it included two rounds of golf (on a fantastic course with great facilities), bed, breakfast and "evening meal". Hmm! So far so good? The hotel was fantastic-great rooms, very clean, lovely added touches in the rooms-so far so good! As stated, the golf was also fantastic-again, so far so good! The breakfast could not be faulted either-there was so much to choose-a full hearty English, an amazingly varied continental with cafetiere's of coffee, pots of tea galore! No problems there then. So, why oh why ruin all this with the worst carvery I have ever been presented with in my life? Everything had been lying around for absolutely hours. Yes, the "roast meats" were replenished but they were all grossly over cooked and luke warm. Things like the salmon, lasagne and chicken dishes had been there for what looked like forever and the vegetables were lack lustre, cold and over cooked! The carvery room was like a cafeteria and there seemed to me to be a shortage of staff. You are not allowed to exchange the value of your inclusive "deal" for any other options but I'm not sure I would want to if THAT carvery is an example of the food served up here! Similarly, I'm not sure I would want to eat in their other restaurant (although if we went again it is probably what we would do) if the carvery exemplifies the overall standard of cooking! At the moment many of our Club members have been on these packages (and I would imagine that getting customers to fill a Sunday/Monday slot is usually difficult). Naturally we all compare where we have been and make recommendations. My advice-do it for the golf and breakfast but avoid the carvery at all costs!!!

We recently had our wedding reception and night party at Ramside Hall Hotel. It was absolutely flawless! Fantastic set up, food was lovely, rooms were beautiful and the staff were great.

Totally recommend this hotel 100%, we can't thank them enough for making our day as special as it was!

Second time I've stayed at the Ramside, the hotel is very nice indeed, the setting great and it has its own golf course if you like that kind of thing. The rooms are excellent, good facilities, well furnished and even has the bonus of Sky Sports in the rooms.

The downside of the hotel came in a couple of forms...the wifi, which is free, didn't work in my room, had full signal outside the room but nothing in it, the walls must be made of lead! Also couldn't get any kind of mobile phone signal so being there alone it was quite an isolating experience. Also I ate in the steakhouse there and while the food was good, the portions were feeble especially given the price. A portion of chips contained literally 6 beefy chips and the dessert pretty much fit on a decent sized dessert spoon.

Beyond that, its a lovely experience, but given the technology issues I'm not sure if I could go back, though a colleague stayed there recently and his phone (on Vodafone) had no such connection issues.

We attended a wedding reception on 21st September and stayed overnight.
Everything was fine regarding the wedding meal and service although I did mention the cloudiness of the Black Sheep Ale on one occasion during the afternoon.
Our room No.222 was on the first floor and had a pleasant view overlooking the lawns at the rear of the hotel. We did not spend a lot of time in the room other than for changing and sleeping and it was comfortable and suitable for purpose.
There was a good choice for breakfast.
All staff were pleasant and efficient.
We would recommend.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Very friendly staff. We stayed in the presidential suite and they accommodated our small dog. breakfast was brilliant and the rib room food is second to none.
Close to Durham in a beautiful setting.
Thank you for a wonderful break.

Booked a family get together in the Rib Room on Sunday evening. We took advantage of the 2 steaks deal which made for good value. The room has plenty of character and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The service was excellent and our steaks were very good; the restaurant manager recommended 2 red wines that we enjoyed very much and complimented the meal. We had a most enjoyable evening and will certainly visit again in the future.

This is an excellent hotel with a good atmosphere. The breakfast was very good quality and value for money. we didn't have a great outlook from our room but as we were out and about during the day this didn't matter so much. But the room was very clean and general standards in the hotel were excellent. I would recommend anyone to come and stay here and feel at home in the very pleasant surroundings.
