My husband and I stayed here 31st Dec - 2nd Jan on the New Year Package. We paid £540 for both of us and this included afternoon tea on arrival, champagne reception, 4 course gala meal (this was fabulous!) and free flowing drinks all night! The following day we had breakfast and in the evening a 3 course meal in the Rib Room. Breakfast also included the following day. overall, we thought it was good value. My only suggestion to improve this would be to extend the breakfast time on New Year's Day to beyond 10am, as, after a very late night, a big lie-in would have been appreciated!

Our room was really nice, very clean, nice size bathroom and plenty of wardrobe/cupboard space. The only downside to the room was that it was poorly lit.

We would recommend this hotel and this particular package.

Booked the superior room last minute as we were off to an engagment party nearby and thought this would be a nice treat for myself and hubby. The staff on reception where very nice and commented on the room we were going to be staying in saying how nice it was. How right they were , on entering the room you had a large area where there was coffee and tea facilities, bottled water , biscuits, and a wardrobe complete with his and her bathrobes. The bathroom was really nice and spacious with twin sinks and a lovely large deep bath. On to the bedroom or should i say suite, this having a kingsize bed( so comfy) ,sofa and 2 chairs along with wide screen tv and really nice furniture. Before leaving for party we had drinks in the bar with friends who also were staying, which was very nice too. Breakfast the next morning was so nice with lots of choice from fresh fruit , cereals, pastry to the full cooked breakfast which we really enjoyed. Before leaving we re-booked the same room for december 2013 as we are guests at a wedding to be held at the ramside , hopefully we may stay before then as we had such a lovely time.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are very nice and well worth the upgrade

I recently visited the hotel for our Broom Hall Christmas party night out. We all had 3 course meals which were delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff were very polite and accommodating. The atmosphere was fantastic in the room I don’t think there was one person that did not enjoy themselves or get up and dance at least once, I would highly recommend going to events held here as they are always ran extremely well. Thank you to all the staff for looking after us

Just spent another lovely couple of days at the Ramside. Haven of peace. Great food and a very warm welcome. You would never know you are so close to the motorway or cities. It is a great spot from which to explore the North East of England. You can watch the entertainment in the evening or sit quietly in the lovely lounge. It's got something for everyone and the rooms are lovely and very comfortable.

After booking a Christmas Party event for my family (The Mirrored Music Hall with Oompah Band) we decided to stay overnight. We were so delighted with our stay - from the fantastic experience of the Mirrored Music Hall (hope you are going to have this on again next year as it was something completely different to the usual Christmas party nights that so many hotels put on), to the lovely bedroom and the superb service. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated, the bathroom was fantastic and immaculately clean. Staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to facilitate our requests. Breakfast was just delightful, again the staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for them. I highly recommend this hotel - it was such a treat to find. despite being so close to our home, we had not been here before - we will certainly be returning both for our next Christmas party and for a Sunday Lunch. The Rib Room menu also looks very appetising although we did not get the opportunity to try it on this stay, we will most definately return.

Room Tip: Ask for room 227 if it is available ,it has a lovely slipper bath in the corner as well as a shower...

I first came across this place through work as we hold events there frequently (it has excellent facilities & we always receive very good feedback from delegates).
Our daughter is now at Durham University & it is the perfect place to stay as far as we are concerned, which we are now doing pretty often. Every time we have stayed there so far has been excellent, great rooms with everything you need, friendly service, excellent facilities, ample parking, beautiful grounds & magnificent breakfast & good carvery (excellent value for money). This last time we saw all the Christmas decorations which were as good as any I've seen, shows the care they put into everything they do to make the place feel special. And it's very conveniently situated just off the A1(M). Not a golfer myself but they have a lovely golf course & it is clear the golf club has many active members, always seems to be very busy!
I've stayed in many hotels around the world, some very expensive, and this beats the lot! There is always something wrong whenever I've stayed in other hotels but I can't find anything to fault at the Ramside! Good beds, bathroom perfect (excellent shower & proper soap)), right temperature in the room, kettle (tea/coffee but they also bring fresh fruit if you ask) & plenty more (can't remember all to mention).
