“Le Jardin is a gorgeous room.”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

I booked this room for my boyfriends birthday as it had been recommended by a friend due to it being a themed room with grass as the floor. However, it had recently been refurbished and although no longer looked like a garden the room was beautifully decorated. The room is set back away from the townhouse and has a private hot tub on the terrace looking out on to the cricket pitch and river. It would have been great to stay for another night. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. It is a little overpriced, however, it was worth the money and I would love to go again.

We stayed in 'Le Jardin' room, which has just had a complete re-furb. It was simply amazing! The decor is very classy, and the bathroom very posh. We loved the decking area with view of the cricket pitch, and the private hot tub was awesome! The complintary hamper was a nice touch, with 2 bottles of red wine, water, chocolates and biscuits. If you have booked this room you will not be disappointed.
The hotel itself is very unusual, but unique and tasteful at the same time.
The staff were very helpful, and breakfast was delicious.
To sum up I would highly recommend Gadds Town House, especially 'Le Jardin' Room.

Had a lovely overnight stay at this hotel on Saturday with my brothers and sister in laws, the staff were great , all 3 of the rooms were just lovely and so different from the large chain hotels we've stayed in before. Lots of lovely finishing touches, and very central for the city pub crawl :-)
We had dinner and breakfast within the hotel which was really excellent also, will certainly be back and would recommend to anyone looking for something just a little different.

A most unusual hotel where every room is different and decoration is quirky but cosy.
We booked the bijou loft, which proved to be very small and moved to another room. This was comfortable with a nice bed but still not very large. Unusual feature is the "see-through" shower!
Staff very very friendly and helpful throughout and the food was also very good indeed.
As is so frequent in many hotels, storage/shelf space was very limited, especially in the shower room.
Location was convenient - just ten minutes walk to the city centre.
Durham is a great place for a short break - lots to see and do with some good pubs and restaurants.

Room Tip: Avoid the bijou loft unless you like stairs and small rooms. Enjoy the hotel service, food and uniq...

We stayed in the garden lodge which was amazing very luxurious. A birthday surprise for my partner and he was very impressed. A little disappointed there was no bath as a night away without kids means I have time to relax. However overall a fantastic stay and we will definitely visit again. We ate in the restaurant and although the food was excellent would give the starters a miss, expensive for what you get, but the main and desert were excellent.

Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. If you choose to come again, then our other two rooms with hot tubs ( Eden Lodge & Le Jardin) both have a bath and shower in the bathroom. Alternatively give us a call and we can advise you based on our availability.

We booked to stay on a Sunday night and for Sunday lunch. We arrived early but it was no problem and they sat us for lunch straight away and what a stunning lunch it was. After a wander round Durham we went to our room (the garden room with hot tub) and it was amazing.

Fantastic rooms and service to match, looking forward to my next stay.

Room Tip: Any with a hot tub

We stayed in the eden lodge on 20/4/13. It was amazing. The finishing touches the hotel offered was excellent. Hamper of goodies, make up wipes. I think im biased because my boyfriend proposed in this room.
