“Great location, friendly staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2014

The hotel is situated in an ideal location next to the river and easy walking distance for all Durham city attractions.
Less than a minutes walk to Millennium square which hosts many bars and restaurants that cater for all tastes and budgets. Even though the hotel is next to the lively nightlife area you don't hear any noise what so ever when your in the hotel.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel does not have its own car park but there is a pay and display car park directly opposite for about £6 per day.
We will definitely be visiting Durham again and definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Try and get a room that overlooks the river!!!

great central location,Very fast and easy check in. Rooms were basic but very clean, good value for money. There are several Bars and Restaraunts near by,We really enjoyed the Champagne bar . I would definatly recommend this hotel for its Central Location.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Premier Inn for one night after a visit to the cathedral to see the Animotion show.
We were allocated a large room, fully equipped for the disabled, overlooking the leisure centre.
The room had everything we needed - and more. A large screen tv, tea & coffee, hairdryer, as many mirrors and electrical sockets as you could wish for and the biggest bed I've ever seen - Goldilocks and all the three bears could have fitted in it. The large bathroom was a wetroom and set up with all safety facilities for the disabled
The full English breakfast was delicious, with the offer to eat as much as you wanted. It was a buffet service with choice of eggs being cooked to order so as to be as fresh as possible.
We both had a good night's sleep, better than at home - walking up and down the hills, as well as the steps to the hotel (maybe a problem for less able people) probably helped - although the bed was the 'icing on the cake'
I would, without hesitation, recommend the hotel and would stay here again if visiting Durham -o it is in a good location for exploring the city.

Stayed here as an alternative to getting a taxi home and was well worth it.
The check-in staff were excellent - really friendly.
Car parking is discounted to £7.70 at the secure Walkergate car park behind the hotel
Out of the hotel and go up the stairs to the left is access to the City centre pubs, shops and restaurants.
Our room was at the back of the hotel and overlooked the Slug and Lettuce that is open until 3am but we heard no noise at all during our stay.
Definatley worth staying if you're in Durham

I know Lenny Henry reckons all Premier Inns are really fabulous, well I can certainly say in this instance its definitely true.

Considering the position of this hotel - city centre - very close to bars and restaurants - it was one of the best night's sleeps I've had in ages.

Durham City is beautiful, the cathedral is amazing, many of the shops are quaint whilst still having a few High Street favourites. Vennel's Cafe, up an alley near Waterstones and East, sell delicious food and serve the most amazing banoffee pie and pavlova. Its worth a visit Durham for a drop in here after a stroll around the river.

Yet another wonderful premier Inn. I might have to stop reviewing them until i find a bad one! I often use them and have never stayed in a bad one.

The staff were friendly and chatty and told me all about the hotel facilities in a short period of time whilst booking me in. The room was, as always, comfortable, clean and tidy. The bathroom was spotless.

I arrived late at this hotel after a long journey and was worried there would be no food available - I was very happy to find out that food was still available in the on site restaurant. It was a good price and decent quality. The bar area was clean and the staff were attentive and friendly

I slept like a log as the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was busy but quite and despite having a room overlooking a leisure centre i heard no noise. Even the building site over the road was blocked out in the morning.

The hotel is well located right in the city centre, close to the cathedral, university, castle etc. The walk along the river form the hotel past the Cathedral is worth the visit alone!

I understand from a colleague ( i was on the train) that parking was "terrible" and expensive. The station is a decent walk up hill but a cab was only £3

Glad i stayed here rather than the more expensive options available. Happy to stay again.
