Very good and close to shops. Car park behind difficult to find pay stations, they are where the stairs are. Also access from hotel difficult, we went the same way as cars. Hotel dining room very good, especially the meal deal.

We stayed here for the Christmas market and like a broken record I have to say again great service great breakfast great location. As for the staff I must say premiere service with a smile. Premier inn has a a reputation that is built on the tireless work of extremely competent staff, I hope their work is noticed by the upper management.

Stayed in this hotel last night and have to say everything regarding the hotel was brilliant. Greeted by the warm and friendly receptionist Chris, we were given room 101. Room was nice and spacious and nice and warm when we arrived which was great considering the time of year!! Only negative to the stay was the fact our room was above the bins for the bars surrounding the hotel.. Was woken up by their bins being emptied at 6am which wasn't the greatest wake up alarm however on checking out, this was discussed again with the lovely Chris who refunded my card immediately and apologised on behalf of the hotel despite it not being her or the hotels fault! Will stay here again in the future and have no qualms about recommending the hotel to anyone!

Brilliant staff who went out of their way to help and be friendly. I was running late at breakfast and the waitress arranged for reception to come and tell me when taxi arrived so that I had maximum time to eat! Only complaint was that the wifi only worked for a couple of hours in the 2 days I was there.

We stayed here this weekend on a special deal, nice place, staff good, meal deal £22 each dinner and breakfast was really good value. The central location was great for us (me being disabled) the hotel changed our room without any fuss to a room with walk-in shower. Great place to stay for anyone going to Durham.
Only one thing wrong......the signage outside needs to be illuminated please!

Third visit to this hotel. Stayed for one night, only paid £19, cheaper than paying for a taxi home after a night out. Great location. Car park next door to the hotel, reduced rate of £7.50 for 24 hours. Check in quick and easy, friendly staff. Rooms have everything you need, spotlessly clean. Beds really big and very comfortable. Did not use the restaurant or bar. Will definitely stay again next time they have a £19 room sale. Would recommend to anybody visiting Durham.

This is convenient for central Durham, and offers all the usual Premier Inn key selling points:

- clean
- straightforward
- fair price for no frills

This one had particularly friendly and helpful staff, who are a credit to the company.

Now for the negatives:

- The food from the in-house kitchen is awful, so don't make the mistake I did and eat in due to feeling tired, just go out, or you will regret it.

- Lorry noise (?dustcart) needlessly revving aggressively and manoeuvring for ages in the street outside at about 0500 disrupted my sleep.

- mattresses very hard
