“Perfect location, good sleep quality, welcoming staff”
Reviewed May 12, 2012

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel and everything was good there. During check-in I was warmly welcomed, got all necessary explanations about breakfast, payment, etc. Room was clean. Bed was surprisingly high, so that my feet could not reach floor when I sat on it. Quite a rare experience with my 190cm height! Hotel boasts that they will return money if sleep quality is not good. I don't know how they do it, but I slept like a baby there. Continental breakfast cost 5.25GBP and was definitely worth this money. Hotel location is in the very center of the town - very convenient for walking around, sightseeing, shopping etc.
What I did not like that internet was not 100% for free. 30 min a day is for free and then you have to pay 3GBP per day, which is of course cheaper than in other european chain hotels, however, come on, I paid full flexible rate for my room and expected some more loyalty from the hotel.
Amenities in the bathroom were reduced to minimum (I used shampoo and shower gel I had in my travel bag from previous trip) and a colourful sticker on the mirror advised to buy things "I might have forgotten at home". Well... I thought that hotel MUST provide such things and that's not about me forgetting soap and toothbrush, it's about service industry standards that prescribe to support travelers, but not in this hotel.
My room was on the first floor and it was a bit noisy due to airconditioners ontop of the restaurant's roof. This was the only drawback.

Premier Inns are a cheap option but provide all you need for a City break. Our room was large, with a comfortable kingsize bed, wardrobe, teamaking facilities, T.V. hairdryer and an en suite bathroom. The best thing about Durham central though, was the staff. They were polite, friendly and extremely helpful and really made our stay a great one. Breakfasts were very good and for a small £3.00 upgrade, we had a full English breakfast, freshly prepared. We'll certainly use this chain again.

Room Tip: If you can't climb over the bath for a shower, ask for one of the rooms with a wet room.

We had an excellent stay at this Hotel, the staff were highly efficient and always helpful, and always seemed to be smiling. The cleanleness of the Hotel was very good,we had a very large room which was very quiet(as requested) with a king size bed. the arrangements for breakfast were very good with either a full breakfast or continental both of which were excellent value. We cannot fault this Hotel and will certainly look for Premier Inn in future on our travels

Very good evening meal, fantastic steak just as I asked for it. Breakfast all you can eat kept us going all day. Shame about locals outside revelling at 4am screaming and shouting about very restful, deffinately stay again. Friendly helpful staff a pleasure worth the money.

Room Tip: upper floor to the front might be advisable.

We stayed at the Durham City Centre hotel. Staff are excellent- all very friendly and well organised. Room was modern, clean, and everything worked. Good location for city centre. Continental breakfasts were good value for money with pleny of choice. Evening meals were slighty pricey but the convenience factor swung the decision in their favour.
We used Trip Advisor as our final decider between the PI or the Radisson Blu as both had deals for similar prices but the slightly better reviews for PI won the day.

Room Tip: Be aware of some possible noise at night from outside as this is a city centre hotel. We faced the s...

We wanted somewhere central to explore the town from that did not need transport and PI fitted the bill at the right price . Our room 401 was spacious with a view of the river , castle and cathedral , but most importantly it was clean . We booked room only although we ate and paid for breakfast each day in the hotel restaurant . Prices were reasonable , quality good and portions generous . Parking is not the best it could be and adds another £7.50 to your daily bill but it wouldn't stop us from staying there again . All in all I recommend this hotel ; it's good value .

Room Tip: The higher the better .
