Description: You are closer than you think to wonderful home cooked food, great ales and fantastic company. Justin and Julia look forward to welcoming you to the friendliest of village free houses in rural Goodleigh, North Devon. We specialise in high quality home cooked pub fare, with traditional British favourites offered alongside exotic dishes from further afield. Relax in charming surroundings whilst sampling well kept ales that have had us listed in the Good Beer Guide for 3 years running. If you like trying something different our menu board is always changing to incorporate seasonal local meats, fish and vegetables. We can accommodate all needs, from a romantic table for two, family parties, or just about anything you had in mind.

the reviews on trip advisor couldn't have been more right! nothing was too much trouble. owners were very welcoming and the chef is a one-woman dynamo. her enthusiasm for food came across when describing the menu. very high quality food and the prices were much less than you would expect. highly reccommended

Came here because of good reviews on TA and they matched our expectations. Landlord friendly and helpful, chef ditto. We had between us generous garlic prawns (starter), figs and gorgonzola (also a starter), steak, chicken and mushroom pie, tons of veg, chips as well (these seemed to be a bonus dish).
This is genuinely a pub that does food and not a restaurant thinly disguised as a pub. There are a limited number of tables set in the main bar and if you like pub meals then definitely give this place a try.
Prices are very reasonable, overall a good vfm meal...

What can I say, except that, visiting Julia and Justin at the New Inn has now become part our annual holiday experience. Expect a very warm welcome, flowing drinks and conversation and the most fantastic food this side of a <well know tyre maufacturers> star restaurant. Yes it really is that good :-) We have been going for the last five years and now we must admit to have stopped trying other pubs in the district, since we know what we'll be getting at the New Inn far exceeds anything else we have tried in Devon. Maybe we see you there... you certainly won't be disappointed...

We visited the New Inn recently and can say without a shadow of a doubt that this was one of the best meals we have ever had! Quite a small pub but service and food were excellent! We saw that it was hightly rated on trip advisor for our local town but had never visited it. I'm so glad we did and we'll deffinately be back soon. The menu was fantastic with a variety of lovely choices you just don't get in most restaurants. I can especially recommend the honeycombe ice cream. Yummy!

We read the reviews on Trip Advisor and made sure that we made a visit to this pub. It may not look much from the outside but don't judge a book by its cover (the car park behind the pub is a bit tricky to get into, so beware if you have a large vehicle!). What a welcome we received from Julia, who was really friendly and boy is she passionate about her food - if you don't like the look of anything on the menu or have any special requirements (I don't eat meat and my mum can't eat onions) then she'll rustle you up something you do like. The food was first class and the meal was one of the highlights of our holiday. Justin made sure our glasses were always full throughout our meal. All in all, a lovely welcoming pub with a real village atmosphere, and the food did not disappoint. A real find and I am sure you won't be disappointed if you make the effort to travel a few miles outside of Barnstaple to sample its delights.
