“Lovely meal”
Reviewed February 11, 2014 via mobile

Went here as the easy option to cooking and was pleasantly surprised. Reasonably priced meals and good service will definitely be back.

“Very good”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

We visited again as a family , we stooped for lunch and as usual very good.
Only one fault and I wish they would sort it. They do not do southern fried chicken during the day,
Why not? Any other restaurant or cafe seems to manage it . Disappointed with that.

“Great Fish and Chips at a fair price”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

Went to Pelican and the whole experience was very positive.. Greeted by friendly young waiter who showed us to a table and cleaned it. We quickly chose the Cod and Chips special - this included tea for two and bread butter. Lovely pieces of cod in crispy batter, good portions of chips and marrowfat peas arrived promptly -- all freshly cooked and hot. Would definitely recommend and will return ourselves.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

On previous visits the food has been very good, however not this time, 23/12/13. When eating fish and chips in a restaurant on expects crisp batter and freshly cooked chips, this was just taken from the warmer from the adjoining takeaway and plonked on a plate. Not at all good especially when you know they could do a lot better, very very poor and very disappointed indeed.

“Good prices but average fish and chips”
Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

Went to this raid hand chip shop last night, Saturday 23 November. Time 6:45, not many people eating although it did start to get busy when we were leaving about an hour later. Service was fairly quick and good. Staff were polite. Ordered a glass of tapwater and a half of carlsberg which was £1.70. The menu was quite good for a fish and chip resuraunt. We both had haddock and chips. It came with a large piece of lemon and a sachet of tartar sauce. It cost £6:45 which is very good for an eat in price. The chips weren't good as there were lots of bits of chips, very small pieces which weren't enjoyable. It was very hot. The fish was a light crisp batter. Was a reasonable size. Taste was ok to good. Staff did not return to enquire whether meal was ok. Was not busy and they would have had time. We paid and left. There was a greasy aftertaste as we walked back to where we were staying. Overall value for money but not as good as some a bit further away from Barnstaple.
