“Honestly the worst takeaway I've ever had.”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

Bought a set menu for four to takeaway on the first night of a long weekend staying nearby. Crispy duck was just tiny pieces of dry meat that looked like they were swept off the floor. Couldn't tell the difference between the beef, pork and duck dishes as the meat all looked and tasted the same. Black bean sauce was really really salty. The seaweed was coated in what looked like sugar. The prawn toast must have been reheated a hundred times. Ribs were actually grey and tasteless. The worst dish was the satay chicken - the sauce wasn't satay but was a congealed, yellow, unappetising mess.
We left 90% of it and threw it away.
Don't know how this restaurant survives - it was empty every time we walked by.
Try the Glasshouse or the Tai at the other end of town. Both were excellent.

“Best in town for value”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Ok, so the actual decor of the place isn't the best, but as the food is about £1 an item cheaper than elsewhere, you don't break the bank weather eating in or out.

I had a takeaway from there last night and found them to be £11 cheaper than the main Barnstaple takeaway.

You can get better quality food, but for a lot more money.

“Great service. Good food.”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Despite dining on my own, and the restaurant being empty to begin with, I was made to feel welcome. The food was good quality Chinese food - just what I wanted and expected.

The service was great, and that's what makes this a strong recommendation.

“Highly recommended and good quality”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

We ordered a take away from this restaurant after it was recommended to us by the receptionist at the Premier Inn in Bideford we were staying at.

The food was very reasonably priced and the portions were large. We ordered a chicken chow mein, special chow mein, satay chicken and chips are found it all very enjoyable. The staff were very helpful and were happy to advise about dishes on the menu as the satay chicken was a bit different to what we're used to in Kent.

The restaurant was easy to find and from what we could see was clean and tidy. We wouldn't hesitate to order food from there again and would recommend it to others.

“painted can”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Went just the other day. I looked forward to it as love food, love dining out, love Asian food. I am pretty sure my scallops were fake and if they weren't fake they were awful. British restaurants are never cheap and you don't expect to be served fake scallops in them. But scallops in Devon are lovely so that is even more of a shock! My friends seemed okay with their prawns, seaweed and ribs. The staff were absolutely friendly and our food served as we requested starters and mains altogether. They also offered us free fruit desert. We were the only ones there. It was warmer outside. The decoration is from a bygone era.
