We are just on our way home from 4 nights in the chestnut lodge at bulworthy lodges. What can i say.We went for a complete chill out break and were completely spoilt. The lodge is elevated overlooking one of the fishing lakes and has perfect views aswell as being nestled in the forest. The lodge is spacious and spotless and has everything you need.Read the book with all you need to know its so useful we ventured to a few places that was recommended. The washing machine and tumble dryer was fab.No washing to do when we get home. The hot tub was heaven and its undercover so perfect even in the rain! Tescos is litterally 10 minutes away so perfect for your essentials then back to the lodge to enjoy pure bliss! We went for our anniversary so a real treat and we took our little boy who thought it was cool so we will be booking to go again!

We have just returned from a fantastic week in chestnut lodge. Our friends stayed in oakapple. Lodges are in a quiet location But within easy drive of several lovely beaches. Owners are very helpful and friendly. Lodge was squeeky clean, well equipped and comfortable. It had everything we needed. The kids had a ball. The hot tub was a welcome luxury at the end of a busy day - missing it!! Have booked again for next summer but all lodges with hot tubs have gone already. We've booked to stay in honeysuckle lodge 24th August 2013. Hoping that honeysuckle is as fantastic as chestnut was. The added surprise of the tumble drier was amazing and meant all our towels could wash and dry after a dayof bodyboarding. can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Have only seen inside chestnut and oakapple but both were gorgeous.

Our second stay at Bulworthy Lodges and again we had a terrific week. The lodges with hot tubs are the ones to go for - worth the extra cash. Loads of room, clean and everything you need incl washing machines, (great after muddy walks!) and dishwashers yay!! Would recommend.

The lodges were like home from home with everything you could need, they were warm and cosy and spoltlessly clean. They are set in a beautiful location surrounded by fields and trees and are deep down in a valley. Our cabin was right on the lake, the fishing was amazing. It's close to lots of attractions, ie The Big Sheep. A fantastic adventure park, for high wire assault and ultimate wipeout. You can spend your day travelling around Devon, nipping into Cornwall, then back in the evening for fishing on the lake. I will definitely be coming back to this place, it's amazing :)

the lodge was fantastic! we stayed in the acorn. looked brand new! had a decent size loung kitchen dinner, bigger bathroom than the one we have a home and a whirl pool bath! lovely modern decor and plenty of kitchen utensils. nice dressing table area in the bedrooms and a tv in every room. the area the lodges are in is quite hilly and it is literally in a forest so you may want your wellies if you go walking!
not far from a tesco and the town of bideford is a 10 minute drive away.
the lodges are located down a narrow lane so be weary of oncoming traffic, however in the 4 day we were there we only met one person in the lane.
lovely peaceful area, pitch black in the nights though so we made sure we were back before dark as we didnt fancy trying to park the car on the steep incline with no light.
would definatly go back! 10 out of 10

Room Tip: if you want to be out the way choose acorn

We stayed in Acorn in November. It is the highest lodge, suitable for 2-4 people.
We requested the lodge that was most out of the way and whilst it had a neighbouring lodge about 30 yards away, because of the angle of them and the height difference it was private.
The lodge itself was very clean, spacious and well equipt with very good clean fridge, freezer, washing/tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave, hob and oven. The heating was easy to switch on and set the timer.
Acorn is marketed as having a whirlpool bath and to be honest I was alittle disappointed that it was a standard sized/shaped bath with built in water jets. I had hoped for a bigger bath (such as the corner ones) so we didn't use it, only the shower.
Once again, the bathroom was spotless and equipped with very a very modern suite.
It was such a lovely break for mu husband and I and I would highly recommend it, although check when you book which lodge you book as some of the others were much closer together, more of a holiay camp feel and I would not have enjoyed being in one of these, with very close neighbours!
I really can't fault the lodge or the surrounding woodland where they are located, the only moan I have (unfortunately) was that we appeared to have a squirrel nesting in the roof and for two of the three nights we had VERY disturbed sleep as it was directly above our heads scraping at the ceiling! Banging only seemed to deter it for a few minutes before it resume it's scratching! We are rural folk and I completely understand that we were in the middle of a forest and we enjoyed the sound of the pheasants and creaky trees but having constant scratching and scraping during the night was hard!!! I lefta note for the owners and I am sure they will do something about it and it wouldn't put me off going again!!
Plus it was only £150 for three nights which I think is excellent value for money

Room Tip: Check with Hoseasons when you book and ask them to look at their map and choose you a lodge set back...
