Owner description: Winner of the Legacy award ,Best Family Business 2017, Gold award for best attraction in the South-west 2012, Exmoor Zoo has become an ideal family day out. The zoo has established a good rapport with the North Devon community and offers a very hand on experience for all its visitors.Activities run throughout the day (every half hour in summer), you get to meet a bird eating spider, hold a snake, feed wallabies (under supervision), meet some of the zoos friendly furry animals and of course go to all the talks and feeding sessions (if you can)!Home to the “Exmoor Beast” (a pair of black leopards), Puma, Cheetah, Maned wolves, monkeys and lots of other unusual animals like Tamandua, Fishing cats, Tapir, Singing dogs and Binturong to just name a few! The zoo is a living place with changes all the time; no visit is ever quite the same.Useful information:• Disabled access (wheelchair provision and scooter hire)• Activities through out the day• Cafeteria• Children’s playground• Undercover picnic areas• Zoo trail.

We visited the Zoo last May and all enjoyed it so much we returned this year. I went to purchase tickets online to discover that to get online discount you needed to purchase tickets 24 hour in advance, I really don't understand why! But we went anyway and paid the full price £52 for 2 x adults and 2 x children,
From memory the talks really made our previous visit in May last year so we wanted to get to as many of those as possible however this was made difficult by having talks scheduled straight after each and from one end of the park all the way to the other end which meant we spent most of the day rushing and even then we couldn't make all the talks which was disappointing.
We stopped for lunch in the cafe and have to say the quality of the food has really gone down hill, I had a Jacket potato which was clearly frozen and then reheated, the kids chicken burger and chips looked pretty grim - my husband and son enjoyed the special pulled pork though. It wasn't cheap either and therefore value for money was poor - I'd take a packed lunch next time. Overall though with entry, food, drinks, ice cream it made an expensive day out.
Having said the above we all enjoyed the visit and loved the hands on stuff, the zoo has a lovely feel and is really striving to educate which is great.

Using our saver ticket for 4 or more people, 2 adults plus 2 children is £43.80 currently at the entrance door, We do offer a better reduced entry rate from our website but require 24 hours to get this onto our system and available to be redeemed at our reception/entrance. I am sorry we did not meet the standards we set last year but, we do try and we do appreciate any visit especially from somebody who returns. The café food ( it is only a café) is supplied by a wholesale caterer as pre-cooked and frozen. We find this is the safest and most hygienic means of providing hot food at busy dinnertimes and can only apologise if your jacket potato was insufficiently heated. It should have been temperature tested before serving and we will.endeavour to ensure we do not miss any hot food items in the future. Glad you came back though and we did not destroy all the original charm of the place!

An hour covered our visit with 2 teenage boys. They loved it. The site is well maintained, staff were very friendly with an informative greeting of what was on and when. Very well catered for younger children.
The animals were lovely and well kept.
