Owner description: Winner of the Legacy award ,Best Family Business 2017, Gold award for best attraction in the South-west 2012, Exmoor Zoo has become an ideal family day out. The zoo has established a good rapport with the North Devon community and offers a very hand on experience for all its visitors.Activities run throughout the day (every half hour in summer), you get to meet a bird eating spider, hold a snake, feed wallabies (under supervision), meet some of the zoos friendly furry animals and of course go to all the talks and feeding sessions (if you can)!Home to the “Exmoor Beast” (a pair of black leopards), Puma, Cheetah, Maned wolves, monkeys and lots of other unusual animals like Tamandua, Fishing cats, Tapir, Singing dogs and Binturong to just name a few! The zoo is a living place with changes all the time; no visit is ever quite the same.Useful information:• Disabled access (wheelchair provision and scooter hire)• Activities through out the day• Cafeteria• Children’s playground• Undercover picnic areas• Zoo trail.

We visited today and although it was freezing cold we had a fabulous day! This zoo has got something that any other zoo I've ever visited hasn't come close to!

I cannot praise the keepers enough, all of them were absolutely fabulous! Very engaging and fun! The hands on sessions were such a wonderful addition to our day, something I've not seen at any other zoo either! We met Damien the grumpy adolescent Alpaca and stroked him and we stroked 'Little' the no so small snake!

There was a young chap taking part in a 'keeper for the day' experience (what a cracking idea!) and we were able to listen to the keeper talk about the Meerkats (we were introduced to Tripod with his dinky tail!) and also the Reindeer (including Boggle the unicorn wannabe!) and we learnt so, so much! We also loved the penguin talk (Curtains, Percy and Grandma Buster were absolutely gorgeous!) and can't wait to come back later in the year to hopefully see some babies as they currently have a couple of eggs being incubated!

I advise anyone who visits to take full advantage of the fabulous experiences and knowledge the keepers have and are so willing to share with you!

We had food in the cafe, which wasn't great, we'd probably take a pack up next time!

Other than that our day was most definitely memorable! We will definitely be back!

Thank you fabulous keepers!

I am local to the zoo so visited with my mum and 3 year old son. We thought that the price was very reasonable and very easy to find. My son loved it, especially when he was able to feed some on the animals. We also thought the play area was brilliant and the undercover picnic area i am sure comes in handy! Yes it hasnt go the larger animals but it doesnt claim to have them and we all enjoyed our visit.

I will certainly be returning during the easter holidays.

Variety of animal species, knowledgeable, friendly and engaging staff, a bit hilly on the terrain and sometimes difficult to get decent shots of the animals with photographic equipment - too much obscured fencing/glass windows.

I visited the zoo with my 2 toddlers they really enjoyed themselves they love animals and they loved playing in the park/play area after their walk round. i loved that there's lots of random undercover areas and undercover picnic areas is a great idea! you are never far away from cover if the heavens do open! also a season ticket is a bargain at under £20! definately worth doing if you have animal loving toddlers to entertain!

We went without many expectations but were blown away by this zoo. The staff were so friendly, answered questions and gave humorous talks, that were appropriate for a wide age range. One even went so far as to use sign language to engage a child with hearing difficulties.
The animals seemed happy and were lively and entertaining despite it being a very cold day.
One enormous plus was the extremely reasonably priced cafe. A must for such a cold day. There was plenty of seating, it was warm and there was a wide choice of inexpensive food. For once we didn't feel that we were a captive audience being ripped off, a very welcome change.
Can't recommend enough for any family.
