A regular of ours, you will have to book for Sun lunch or a busy evening, children aren't made very welcome and service is moderate. Good range of food but large portions and a lot of waste.

Party of 6 arrived containing a 4 week old baby turned up on foot for a meal, upon entering the premises we were presented by a sign informing us that prams/pushchairs were not allowed in the pub. In this day and age in the current economic climate you would think restaurants would encourage families. This was not the case of the ship inn at roose, extremely disappointed. Went to crofters just up the road instead, fantastic food and family made extremely welcome, try here instead.

On the plus side the food was fresh and home cooked and the portions were more than ample. All 5 of us dining (including a 4 year old) enjoyed our meals and the general atmosphere in the pub. The downsides were the 'service' - a number of the waitresses were sullen to the point of being rude and the wait for the mains was a little longer than I might have liked. That said the food was worth the wait, just a pity the service didn't match.

Called at the Ship Inn Yarlside for a meal but was too early to eat in the restaurant, however they were serving bar meals so we decided to have that. Excellent choice on the bar meal menu and we all had something different. Every meal was well cooked and very large portions giving excellent value for money. We ordered tea/coffee and were given a mince pie each with our order. The service was a little on the slow side but not excessive. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a highchair available for my grandson. All in all a very pleasant eating experience. Would highly recommend.
